I have too many quilts, and much as I like them, they need to come out of the cupboard and be rehomed where they will be used.
Almost free - a contribution to postage, and a donation to an agreed charity. Various sizes, colours, designs, traditional styles. Fabrics are all new cotton; wadding is either 100% cotton, or 80% cotton, 20% polyester. Sizes are in inches and approximate - I can measure properly on request.

Love those quilts. Hope they find happy ever after homes :flower:
-
As a non quilter I would absolutely LOVE to have a quilt. (I do have a wall quilt my aunt made me which I love).
Off to look!
-
Ohhh Deaf .... They're beautiful ... are you positive you want to let them go ???????
@Puzzler ... Is there anything here you like ???
I think my favourite, If I had to choose, would be the 2nd one in ... no details, but lots of triangles ... which block is that then? ... oh and the last Starry one!
-
I’d like to give this one a home....
-
Absolutely stunning work, @Deafoldbat. I hope you find loving homes for them all.
-
So lovely. I'm smitten by the first starry one in row 4. Couldn't figure out how to show it here. I imagine postage to here would be prohibitive.

This one RG ??? Imi

Oh my goodness @Deafoldbat , those quilts are gorgeous! What a lot of work. Could you not give them as gifts to friends etc? You should also try selling those online for charity. You’d get much more even on Ebay than they’d get in a charity shop. They deserve a good home.
-
Beautiful quilts!
What is the size of the single bed quilt, please?
-
They are beautiful, I hope you find a good home for them, it is so hard when you put so much work into something, you need to find the right person to have them.
-
Your quilts are all beautiful! I would love the one in picture number 10. I can't seem to attach a picture of it here. :[

This one ?? Imi
Yes please that's the one.
-
I’d like this one too...
(I love traditional quilts but never seem to make them... too dazzled by bright shiny colours!)
-
I knew you were hiding your Darkside Light under a bushell @Deafoldbat
-
Please could I have number 12 or number 7 or both if possible.
What beautiful stunning quilts. I love quilts but definitely do not have the patience to make one. I would love the quilts to use in my two bedrooms.
Sorry don't know how to add pictures.
Lizzy :)

No.7 Judy Martin
No 12 Hour glass
Thats the best way I can describe them?

This one ?? Imi
@Iminei this is the one that makes my heart sing above the rest of them. The one you covet is safe. From me at least. As I said postage would be prohibitive so I just have to admire from afar anyway.
-
I would love the Spiders Web, i will PM you
-
Right, folks, have I replied to all the people who have 'bagged' quilts? If you haven't heard from me please say so!
I have added a couple more pictures to the folder to see if I can tempt you further.
@Renegade Sewist I'm afraid you've been preempted in your choices, and yes the postage would probably be ridiculous, but thank you, and everyone, for your kind comments.
@Iminei No, I don't want them to go, but they've been living in the cupboard, some of them for years, and it's time they moved out and earned their keep. (Bit like the kids really - anyone want either of my DSs? Free with a quilt?)
@Sheilago Most of my friends already have my quilts (or don't need them because they make their own). When I visit they always ask if I want to see the quilt too.
-
@Deafoldbat
Are they all spoken for? If any left I could well be tempted ....
-
@annieeg There are a few left. Anything spoken for is marked 'reserved'.
Still available, numbering from left to right, 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 13, 14.
-
I have PM-ed you :loveit:
-
OMG Ive not been on here for a few days & look what I missed.
PM sent, i'd like 5 if it's still available
-
Wow, just wow! The talent of people on this forum never ceases to amaze me. Alas I have no place to much such gorgeousness (plus, probably luckily for me and my clutter, no 10 has already been snaffled), but they are lovely to admire. If you have any left over, why not put them on Etsy? It's really easy to do, and the prices for handmade things are better than ebay. :flower: <3 :thread:
-
@Happymrsg @Lizzy777 @hiltonclare @twopence
I am packing up the quilts to send.If you haven't already sent me the delivery address please will you do so. Also add whether you want courier delivery or Royal Mail. If it is sent by courier you will be able to track it but for that I need an email address or phone number.
-
Wow, your work is so beautiful! :faints:
I'd live to give number 14 a home if it's still available.
-
I am smiling a giant smile, thank you @Deafoldbat
-
My quilts have arrived ..... and they are fabulous. They are beautifully made and the quilting is fantastic...
Thank you so much, I’ll post a picture when they are in situ, I know exactly where they are going, they will be used and loved.
-
You lucky, lucky Girls ... Jealous moi ????
-
Mine arrived today, so much better in the flesh. It will be perfect for the boat but cannot use it until the 4th July (thank you Boris) so i put it on the settee on the patio to give it an airing and to admire and no sooner done than Saffy decided it looked too good not to be used.
Thank so much
-
OOOOHHHH soooooo much envy .... !!!! Gnawing me arm orf now! :D
-
My quilt has arrived. It is so beautiful. I have always fancied making a quilt but I think it might be beyond me - & looking at this quilt confirms it.
Thank you so much @Deafoldbat :loveit:
-
@Happymrsg I suspect that a lot of darksiders would think the same thing if faced with one of DOB's quilts. They look spectacular!
You know it's like eating an elephant...one block bite at a time. ;)
-
My quilt has arrived and it's gorgeous 0_0 :loveit:
Colours are really deep and warm.
I think some of the top stitching was possibly done by hand which is really impressive.
Thanks again @Deafoldbat
Annie
-
@annieeg the Gentleman's Fancy quilt was hand quilted, in the days when my fingers would let me and I had the time. Thousand pyramids is machine quilted.
-
@sewmuchmore I'm pleased to see the dog has the right idea ;)
-
DOB has always hidden her light under a bushel!
-
@Iminei There's still a couple left you know.... but you may have enough of your own without adding mine! ;)
-
That is my problem ... but I do adore the one I adore!
-
@Deafoldbat which ones are left, please :)
I found them :)
-
@Lilian - where did you find them?
-
HERE (https://photos.app.goo.gl/ktUf1GjRyfb9H9yYA) @Greybird
Bugger!!! Just seen the one I love is reserved/has been nabbed/is gone! Harumph! >:)
-
Thank you @Iminei - but how do you know which, if any are left?
-
@Greybird When you see the google photos click on the ‘i’ information button. This will tell you if it is a reserved quilt.
-
Thank you!
-
As far as I can see there are still two beautiful quilts not spoken for.
Either would be a delight for someone.
-
They're all gone!
(However, one of the reservers hasn't got back to me with their address. I have PM'd them about it, (twice) but unless they get organised and tell me soon...)
Anyway, within a day or two I shall have an almost empty cupboard, several happy people (I hope) and some good causes supported. Thank you everyone! :)
-
Mine arrived at lunchtime and it’s lovely. Thank you so much @Deafoldbat. I will post a photo later.
I can understand Hermes not wanting signatures at the moment but not them not ringing the bell to let me know it’s arrived.
-
I wasn't able to get back to it yesterday, so missed it! Never mind!
-
And the wonderful tiny squares in square patterns has arrived, thank you so very much. It will live here in the main room, with a variety of cushions and teddies on it depending on which bear is downstairs at the time. It has just the four bears who were in the room when it arrived posing - there are many more queuing for a go LOL!

It is truly a wonderful quilt, with so many different fabrics in it, thank you so very much. My husband simply said "Wow!" when I unpacked it :)
Very best wishes to you

-
Marvellous LeilaMay ...
In fact I think everybody who has benefited from Deafoldbats generosity should post a pic of their new quilt in situ ...
C'mon Girls, lets see these Ladies loud and proud!
-
@Deafoldbat @LeilaMay that is stunning and looks right at home there. :loveit:

Yes please the ones posted look wonderful in situ.
-
Just got a few bits to finish then will post a picture.
-
@LeilaMay And when your eyes are better, you can count the squares...
That doesn't include the squares in the sashing...
-
OOOOHHHH soooooo much envy .... !!!! Gnawing me arm orf now! :D
How do you think I feel, being on the wrong side of the pond and all? :x that's envy folks.
-
@Deafoldbat ... How big are the squares ... the ones in the square ???
and how long did it take you to make?
-
As promised... managed to get some pictures in between thunderstorms
-
They look wonderful @Efemera! I do like that pergola, what a lovely space. It has peeked my interest :ninja:
-
Oh How Glorious!!!! I'm coming for evening drinkies!!!
I dont think there can be a more fitting setting for one of DOB's quilts ... but you must bring it inside at night!
-
Lovely @Efemera. I love the barn quilts too :D
-
Looks lovely, @Efemera
-
@Iminei Each 'block' of LeilaMay's quilt is made of 9x9patches; 5 with 5 darks and 4 lights, and 4 with 4 darks and 5 lights. Each 9-patch finishes 3" square, so each of those squares finishes 1".
I'm not sure how long it took in actual hours, because I don't go at it all day every day, but iirc, I started it in October, and sewed the binding on on Xmas Day - no one else in our house gets up early if they can help it, and we don't make a big thing of Xmas.
@Efemera looks nice and comfy, but yes, please bring them in at night! :) I like your barn quilts.
-
More Questions Im afraid @Deafoldbat .... as Im in total awe ... did you strip piece the squares???
-
OMG @Deafoldbat I wouldn’t dream of leaving them outside, Most of the time they’re on my little armchair in the kitchen looking very country.
-
@Iminei I don't strip piece things very often, I fact I can't remember the last time I did. Those long strips can distort and the seams can wobble. Also. I like to mix up the background fabrics so that eg all the pink ones aren't all paired with the same neutral. I tend to start with what I've got, then see what other colours I need to add to the mix. This used to be easy when I had a quilt shop locally, but she packed up a couple of years ago (because God told her to!), but now I have to rely on kind friends who will take me out to shops or fairs, or mail order :\
-
but now I have to rely on kind friends who will take me out to shops or fairs, or mail order :\
Or peeps who are overflowing with scraps ??? but Im thinking you want to bring this madness to an end ???
If Im not right please give me your address and I will gladly send my scraps yourwards to make into more spectacular quilty things
-
@Deafoldbat Thank you, thank you, thank you! My quilts arrived today! I am absolutely delighted with them :loveit:. they are airing at the moment and I will post pics soon when they have settled in. I can't figure how you made "Three of a kind" I am in awe :faints: :toast:
-
Looking at your album there are just TWO Numbers 7 and 17 that have not been labelled Rehomed ...
Whom are you waiting on ???
Cmon ... Get your details to DOB and lets finish this!
-
@Lilian - smoke and mirrors, how else?
Actually, a lot of muttering and some partial seams. Glad they've arrived safely. Enjoy!
-
@Deafoldbat it's incredible! Such lovely work. I hope to be able to make something that beautiful - one day
-
Here are my two beautiful quilts created by DOB <3

-
These are my beautiful quilts created by DOB. They are now very happily rehomed and settling in nicely. Thank you @Deafoldbat I have never owned a handmade quilt before and I will treasure these gorgeous ones :loveit:
-
The quilt with all the little squares in the post by Lilian can I ask @Deafoldbat how did you sew them together, I am very attracted to this type of quilt where everything is the same but I don’t really know how to start, as I'm now retired I would love to try.
-
@Celia I think they are 9-patch squares :)
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
-
@Celia .... please hie yourself down to DDD and I will ease you in to the Darkside.
-
Well hellllloooooooo Miss @Celia  Come in come in! :)
-
Only two rules @Celia ......1. Remember Hotel California
2. Don't eat all the Garibaldis
-
@Celia .... please hie yourself down to DDD and I will ease you in to the Darkside.
If only I could I am still in Lockdown due to him indoors and the hospital?? But I hope you will be proud of me look what I am doing now
Ok I know about the Garibaldis @Lowena but Hotel California?
And @wrenkins I think I am being tempted
-
Woo Hoo!!!! ....and she's off! :loveit:
-
@Celia You make 9-patches. Make half with 5 dark squares and 4 light squares, and half with 5 light squares and 4 dark squares. You can keep the same fabric for all the light/dark squares in a block, or mix them up. All you're aiming for is sufficient contrast to show the pattern. When you've made enough blocks lay them out alternating 5 darks with 5 lights (iyswim). Move them around until you're happy with the over all look. Sew them together, layer them with wadding and backing, 'quilt as desired' (always a daunting phrase), bind it and use it. Simples!
-
@Deafoldbat There is no label on the 9-patch quilt. Were you aware of this? If you want to make one and send it to me I will stitch it on :)
-
@Deafoldbat thank you for your information on the quilt, I feel really taken with this idea and am going to look at the fabrics I have.
@Lilian thank you for your info and the close up photo helps to
-
@Celia Down the primrose path you come!
@Lilian There were a couple I forgot to mark. If you have a permanent marker pen, could you just write 'made by'etc in a corner of the back. Ta, :)
@annieeg I am so pleased to see that quilt on a bed, so much better than lurking in a cupboard, and it fits just nicely too.
-
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
Here's my beautiful quilt on my spare bed. I may have to buy new bedding to show off the quilt better.
-
How good do all those quilts look on beds and chairs? :loveit:
You can almost see the warmth flooding over them from the people with the big grins behind the cameras :)
-
Do quilts have a mind of their own? The one I received from @Deafoldbat was going to be a topper on the bed but instead has migrated into the study, displacing the fleece blanket (previously used when wfh and feeling a little chilly.)
I've been working from home since the start of the lockdown, and now the company is losing money and we've been told back office (ie IT, finance, HR etc) are going to be heavily cut sometime between now and March next year.
I am finding having the quilt in room a reassuring companion :-)
Thank you
-
I like the idea of quilts having their own way! It is a reassuring thought. I do hope you will not loose your job but the worse part about it is the not knowing when or even if it’s going to happen. Do look after yourself and try to stay positive.
-
Quilts on the backs of chairs are brilliant!!
The (S)Crappy bargello has been on the back of mine for years and stops any draughts getting to me!
and recently September 2017's BOM quilt has made an appearance on the back of the other big chair in the dining room.
-
@Iminei don't you find quilts on the back of chairs look messy and attract dust ?
-
@Iminei don't you find quilts on the back of chairs look messy and attract dust ?
I have blankets on the backs of my chairs/sofa and they don't attract any more dust that the furniture on which they live. I try to keep them neatly folded. I like them there; it looks cosy and snuggly.
-
Nah @LowenaThe dirt and dust settles on everything else in the house ..... 0_0
-
I have no dust in my house but if I did I'd rather it settled on the quilt. The furniture's a pain to fit in the washing machine. :S

I love your house style @Iminei. I love the floor, the curtains, the chairs :loveit: and the Santa in July! <3

I don't but I'm pretty sure I need one. It's not much of an ornament without!

I'm sorry to hear this. I hope it all works out for you.
-
Finally got round to sorting out the photo size to post these of the lovely quilt I had from DOB.
-
Glorious!!!!
-
@Deafoldbat I'm kicking myself stupid for having missed your generous offer of quilts. They are beautiful. Do you have any unclaimed waifs and strays that would appreciate a loving home?
-
@SkoutSews
There may be something unless I hear from someone who has 'vanished' since reserving. Failing that, I'll be restocking the cupboard in due course... ;)
-
I shall live in hope :D
-
I think I am too late for the party but I would like to buy a quilt from you and I will pay the postage to Australia.
They are beautiful works of art.
I will pay your asking price.

I've been coming back to this thread to see if all the quilts are gone too. Some of them were beautiful.
So, @Deafoldbat , if you still have any and you're willing to part with them could you get in touch, please?
I'd say the same also goes for any other quilters looking to get rid of anything and, I hope it goes without saying, but I'll happily pay up for them.
:)
-
@TartanPaint ... Why buy when you could make one of your own ????
-
he's gonna @Iminei. He just doesn't know it yet.
-
Three months ago, someone reserved two quilts. Since then I have had no contact with her, despite PMs, personal emails and text message asking her to get in touch. She hasn't been on the forum since 16 June.
I am now cancelling her reservations. These quilts are now available again
https://photos.app.goo.gl/nPEkz9W3tCN4VLHH8

Given the (flattering) previous level of interest in these quilts and to spread any disappointment evenly, there will be a draw for these quilts. The 'winners' must refund postage costs and make a donation to charity.
If you are interested, please PM me before midnight on 24 September. If you have a preference for one over the other please say so. Our overseas members are welcome to join in but should bear in mind the probably very expensive postage costs they would incur should their name come up.
The 'winners' will be notified on 30 September.
Any questions - please ask.
-
@TartanPaint get your dibs in!
-
@wrenkins
Thanks for the heads-up. That second one is the one I really wanted too.
I can't be arsed with draws and the like. I've never been into anything like that. Always makes me feel like a dog on an obedience course with the promise of a treat at the end. So, one less person to spread the disappointment around with.
Best of luck to everyone who enters, though; those are some quality quilts.
@Deafoldbat Beautiful work on the quilts. Someone is going to be very pleased.
:)
-
@TartanPaint I would agree with you about a draw, but I'm trying to be fair to the people who missed out earlier because they weren't poised to pounce the moment the post went up. I wasn't expecting the reaction I got - I thought maybe a few would go eventually - but they were in like Flynn... (and are again!)
-

Well, for what it's worth, that blue and white one is exquisite. I'd buy it off you in a second but I also appreciate your willingness to ensure fairness. Someone is going to get away with a prize that's for sure.
:\
-
Thank you to everyone who expressed interest in the two remaining quilts.
The 'winners' have now been notified; if you haven't heard from me I'm afraid you were out of luck this time. However, as I now have an (almost) empty cupboard I can start to fill it up again (though this may take some time) so in due course I may have more quilts to rehome...
-
Okay, Fess up ... Who are the lucky Two????
Pics in the quilts new homes would be lovely ;)

I'm one of the lucky winners  I will definitely take a picture of 'Long May She Wave' in its new home. I'm pretty sure the colours will go beautifully in our lounge or bedroom so we'll see where it wants to live! :D

Congrats SS ... Hows YOUR quilt coming???
Almost finished! I'm hand sewing the binding down and am about 2/3 of the way round :D

Congratultions @SingingSinger :toast: lucky you
-
I'm the other very lucky winner. Birds in the Air will have pride of place on the only settee the dog doesn't lie on. Photos will follow. Mr Wolf is concerned that this is going to seduce me to the Darkside. He's usually right. 0_0
-
Come hither and don't listen to him.
Congratulations both on your good fortune. :toast:
-
Congratulation @sleepingwolf :toast: they are both beautiful quilts :)
-
pride of place on the only settee the dog doesn't lie on
@sleepingwolf My dogs always lay on the quilts - it's much easier to wash a quilt than clean a chair. 0_0
-
I've just taken delivery of Long May She Wave from the Hermes man, and as I'd hoped, the colours are perfect for the quilt to live on our sofa! [ You are not allowed to view attachments ] Thank you @Deafoldbat I'm very pleased with it  :D <3
-
That does look gorgeous in your room :) colours are just right :)
-
The Hermes man delivered Birds in the Air here yesterday. It is even more stunning than pictures can show. The handquilting is so precise that the back is as beautiful as the top.
We are auditioning different locations for a permanent home but this is my favourite so far. As you can see we are very fond of bats :)
