For Sale, Wanted & Free to a good home / Re: Janome cover Pro CP1000
« on: March 12, 2021, 16:19:54 PM »
It has all the original accessories. Plus elastic gathering attachment, and clear view foot, which were optional extras. I also have an original Janome binder that has never been used, and will be sold separately.

I got this machine on a dealers recommendation, but have to Admit I'm a Pfaff girl at heart. I have a couple of Pfaffs, and this machine is not being used. It was serviced around s year ago, and has only been used a couple of times since then. I have the narrow accuflex foot for it and a couple of other extra feet as well. I have the original box. Looking for £950 including insured delivery

The Haberdashery / Re: Pattern Weights
« on: March 06, 2020, 19:15:23 PM »
Ive got a set of pattern weights that cost nothing, and I love them. We had some roofing lead scraps in the garage, which DH cut into small squares and rectangles, then covered with Electrical tape to stop the lead marking or catching on fabric. They do the job very well, as they are flat and easy to cut around if placed near the edge  of the pattern piece.

I have the Janome 1000CP, and I bought the clear foot as well. Strangely I had a 100CP years ago, which I sold to buy a combi machine. That was a big mistake and I went back to separate machines. The first Cover Pro was bad for skipping stitches, the second one rarely does. The feed dogs may have been set higher on the newer machine, as I dont think I have every had a problem with skipped stitches on it.

Fun with Fabric / Re: Santa suit fabric

They have lovely fabrics, but I noticed it said it may not be colour fast for the first few washes. I think I will need to get a polyester velvet for washability and colour fastness.

Fun with Fabric / Santa suit fabric

Many years ago I made DH a santa suit. I could not find velveteen, so made it in cotton, and it has served well. However now that we have 2 grandaughters, it's time for an upgrade.
Has anyone come across a decent non-stretch velveteen in santa colurs at a reasonable price?
The last fabric I ordered off the internet was nothing like the colour shown. I don't need it for this year, but want yto buy it now whilst the christmassy fabrics are easier to find

I had 4, I've now got 8

There seems to be recurrent theme here!

Sewing Machines / Re: Blind hemming machines

I have one, and only use it for curtains and Dh's dress trousers. That said, my curtains are massive so would be impossible to sew by hand. It's not used often but it's worth it for me as I can't buy ready made curtains

Sewing Machines / Re: How many machines do you have?
« on: September 21, 2019, 15:57:06 PM »
Do you use them all regularly @Mamashep ?
Do you keep them out for easy access?

I use all except the Singer, as it's not out all the time, The rest are all ready to go. I have only been doing repairs and alterations at the moment as Ive lost a bit of weight and hoping to lose more, but looking to start making things for my grandaughters now

I parted withn a few of mine, and was down to 5, but they seem to attract other machines.

Janome MC8900QCP
Pfaff Quilt expression 4
Pfaff 7550
Singer 201k
Janome Cover Pro
Joy's Blind Hemmer
Brother PR-1000 embroidery machine
Babylock evolution

The Janome was brand new unwanted gift at half price, so hI just had to buy it.  Pfaff Quilt expression 4 was a bargain as it had a couple of missing accessories that I had anyway, Pfaff 7550 was because I got rid of my Pfaff 1475cd a few years ago and regretted it ever since, and I put a bid in on Ebay not expecting to win. The PR1000 was an ex-demo, just over half the new price,  and the Babylock Evolve was pre-owned in excellent condition, and another too good to miss bargain. I have told DH I will get rid of a couple, but I don't think he believed me lol

I must admit that I love the ease of use of the Pfaff IDT - in one second you can just flip it on or off.  No messing about with an extra part/foot that needs to be applied. It seems as if not all IDT systems are equal. E.g. when the dealer talked about the Accufeed on the Janome he showed me a separate part/foot that you put on when you want the IDT.  I imagine, coming from a Pfaff, that I would find that a bit of a nuisance.

When a sewing machine is advertised as having integrated dual feed or built-in dual feed does that mean it's more like the integrated just-flick-it-on-or-off Pfaff dual feed? I think I've seen adverts for more expensive Janomes with dual feed but don't know if it's of the you-need-to-apply-a-separate-foot variety.

As @Iminei said my old Pfaff is now serviced and should work for a while so I hope I've got some thinking/researching time in which to decide.

I had a Pfaff 1475Cd for many years until I foolishly sold to upgrade, and I have regretted it ever since. I have  Janome 8900QCP with the dual feed, but bought a used Pfaff quilt expression 4 recently just for the Pfaff IDT, and have not used the Janome since buying the Pfaff.

I had a Pfaff 1475 which I sold to upgrade to a Janome - basically because a dealer persuaded me the Pfaff would not last much longer. I have regretted it ever since as I loved the IDT. I have a Janome *900QCY with the accufeed and find the accufeed feet to be bulky, even the narrower VD foot. I had to put the Janome into the dealers a couple of weeks ago to have the Led lighting replaced, and while I was in there, I noticed he had a second hand Pfaff QE4 for the bargain price £250 (at that price becuase the knee lift and manual were missing, but I've printed a manual and knee lift from Janome fits).  I got it home, and had a play and it sews beautifully, and I much prefer the IDT to the Accufeed on the Janome. Another thing I prefer is the selection of feet available for the Pfaff.  I liked the automatic foot when I had a Husqvarna Designer 1 and it took me ages to get used to lifting a foot when I changed to the Janome. It did not take me long to adapt back to the automatic foot.

I really need to free up some space, and need to get rid of this machine. It is absolutely beautiful, and looks like new. It has an electric motor, and hard carry case.  There are some spare bobbins, but no other accessories. I have just tested it and it sewed through 16 layers of fabric easily.
Is there any interest on here before I put it on Ebay?
Looking for around £40 plus P&P
Pm me for photos if anyone is interested

Hi, I'm new... / Re: Still Sewbusy (TSF) but not so busy these days.
« on: November 28, 2018, 13:11:50 PM »
Sorry to hear of your problems Sewbusy. I have Fibromyalgia and Osteo Arthritis and have also been diagnosed with bliateral fast developing cataracts. I have been waiting since July for an opthalmology appointment, and was told the waiting list is 50 weeks, with a further 50 week wait for surgery. I have very little sight in my left eye at present, and expect to be totally blind by the time I get the cataracts removed. I have the option of going to a hospital some distance away to be seen faster, but I can't drive there now as my eyesight is too bad., so would need to have an appointment when DH is home to drive me there.  Meanwhile it's back to the opticians to spend yet another pile of money on glasses that  will only last a few months
