I was looking at these in the books tonight at class and there are so many lovely things for the next season. In particular there are some really nice plus patterns and the kids stuff is just fab.

Courses & Classes / Claire Tyler dealing with denim
« on: October 11, 2017, 20:19:19 PM »
Has anyone done one of these workshops. I have a ticket for the knitting and stitching show here next month and I'm trying to pick my workshops. I have done one of her classes before and really liked her. I am also planning to do the lacy knickers one she is teaching.

I have only ever used the design's built into my machine, I have never purchased any but would love to get some nice ones suitable for DD. She loves unicorns and rainbows but I don't even know where to begin never mind what are reputable sites!

Also is it ever possible to purchase popular characters or are they always TM violations?

In the wardrobe / Two more concord t-shirts

Really love this pattern. The khaki one is long sleeved and I may still yet put some lace along the bottom of it and the second one is short sleeved with black lace over the back of it. I plan to make a lace flower on a brooch pin for the front.

Embroidery Machines / Which would you pick?
« on: June 26, 2017, 16:19:48 PM »
I am making a skirt in black denim and plan to embroider some detail on the bottom front of the skirt. Which would you pick and do you think it looks ok in the variegated thread or would it be better in a solid colour (or stitched out in a colour pattern?)

In the wardrobe / Black denim skirt.

I'm making a very simple a line black denim skirt (I have a dark blue denim one I wear a lot including at this very minute  0_0 ) and am looking for ideas for what colour to use as a contrast on the twin needle hem. I used a traditional yellow on the blue one.

Just wondering if anyone has made this? I'm making view D and I'm finding it hard to get the elastic casing right due to the shape of the neckline and wondering if anyone has any tips please.

Fun with Fabric / Lawn
« on: May 25, 2017, 21:59:30 PM »
I have 1.5 mrs of a gorgeous lawn that was a bit pricier than I usually would spend but I fell in love with it! I'm completely unable to decide what to do with it though. I was debating making a cowl neck princess seamed top that I've made before and like but something is stopping me. Can anyone help me be brave before the brief Irish summer is gone!!

I started the trousers at sewing class tonight and I may be in love. I've only got them put together roughly so they need some work but they feel fantastic on and I can't wait to get them finished.

In the wardrobe / Jeggings for DD
« on: April 21, 2017, 09:43:17 AM »
Thanks to all the help in my fitting post DD is now the proud owner of these and I have a pattern drafted to fit her so I can make some more! I made I think 4 practice pairs in the end but totally worth it

Hi. I'm attempting to make a pair of denim jeans (well they will be pull on as she is only nearly 4 and needs easy up and down) drawn from a pair she already has that fit her well.

This in itself is a challenge as I won't take them apart as they still fit and it's rare I find trousers that do for her  ><

I've run up a pair in some fabric I have lying around and I'm happy with the legs but the waist and crotch have come up too big. I've marked on them roughly where needs to come out around the crotch but I was wondering what's the best way to take this volume out please?

Thanks a million  :toast:

Fun with Fabric / Using a knit in a pattern designed for a woven.
« on: March 29, 2017, 19:37:00 PM »
I bought new pattern at the beginning of the week. Without looking too closely at the back I saw the stretch guide thought it looked good for a knit fabric and started cutting it out. When I was cutting out the neck and arm hole binding pattern pieces I copped they were on the bias and actually only the leggings in the pack are for knits not the tops.

Should I get happy with the general fit by making it up in a woven fabric (just something I have lying around) and then use the end off the roll lovely knit I picked and don't want to waste first? What do others do?
