I have only ever used the design's built into my machine, I have never purchased any but would love to get some nice ones suitable for DD. She loves unicorns and rainbows but I don't even know where to begin never mind what are reputable sites!

Also is it ever possible to purchase popular characters or are they always TM violations?

Yes use them and don't keep them in the press from me too. I'm a firm believer that things should be used so I use the good glasses and the nice plates for dinner on a Wednesday sometimes cause that's what there there for!

It's not jersey it's a light woven not sure exactly what I would call it but it's heavier than a chiffon. It's a tiny bit too narrow to cut out the two back pieces in one so I've messed around with the sleeve a little rather than have loads of leftover fabric so fingers crossed it will be ok

Thanks a million. I didn't realise the picture had the flash on it and was distorting the colour. I really like the effect of the variegated thread but I wasn't sure if it was a bit out of place in the design. Can't wait to get it onto my pattern piece tomorrow.

Sorry it's the cashmerette concord t shirt pattern. I'm a big fan!

No it should be more green but it's the photo for some reason it's not showing up well. The other one is pink alright with the black lace over it.

Really love this pattern. The khaki one is long sleeved and I may still yet put some lace along the bottom of it and the second one is short sleeved with black lace over the back of it. I plan to make a lace flower on a brooch pin for the front.

I am making a skirt in black denim and plan to embroider some detail on the bottom front of the skirt. Which would you pick and do you think it looks ok in the variegated thread or would it be better in a solid colour (or stitched out in a colour pattern?)

So made a somewhat wearable toile, the blue one and then made it out of some beautifully light cotton lawn. I made a few changes on the second one. I didn't leave the open part on the arms and I backed the tie pieces in the same fabric as the reverse was too stark a contrast for me. I also totally ignored the instructions for the neckline and made a bias binding channel instead. It's lovely to wear on these hot days.

I didn't think of silver/grey and as I planned to put silver buttons on the waistband it will be perfect. I have some lovely purple denim and I will definitely use lilac for that one.

Thank you all

I'm making a very simple a line black denim skirt (I have a dark blue denim one I wear a lot including at this very minute  0_0 ) and am looking for ideas for what colour to use as a contrast on the twin needle hem. I used a traditional yellow on the blue one.

Another thing you can get that works well are the wipes you use to remove the sticky residue from medical plasters and bandages. I can't think of the name of it but we used it loads removing dressing from the kids when I was nursing and is great and getting sticky residue of all sorts of things. It kinda dissolves the glue

Ok so just to update I used this suggestion from the review on PR that mentioned the same problem I was having http://thehabygoddess.blogspot.ie/2012/04/tutorial-adding-elastic-neckline.html I really loved how it turned out and suspect it might be my new go to method for creating casings. It's so neat. I have finished the top and while it's not perfect I like it enough to go ahead and make it in some "good" fabric and will probably wear the first version over the summer. I agree it does run quite large though.
