@Bill Sewing Machine World in King's Lynn have an second hand Juki for sale that can be shipped:
https://www.sewingmachineworld.co.uk/product/second-hand-juki-hzl-dx7/

I don't think you've tried a Juki yet.

(Steve, the owner of SMW, used to be on the previous incarnation of TSP and was very helpful.)

I nearly got it right - page 14 of the manual has the full details:

I have to move the stitch length to 'zero' to do the back ('lock') stitch , and then move it back again to exactly the same number on a slide dial (which isn't always totally accurate)

It's been a while since I used my 707 but I seem to remember something about being able to lock the stitch length lever by screwing it so that it could decrease to zero but not go past the locked position.

@Bill Scroll to the bottom of the page for some things to keep you occupied while you wait:

We could have a pedantic discussion about whether two spaces after a full stop is grammar or typography.

My darkside sewing (and my lightside sewing) has been non-existent for most of this year, but acquiring two space-themed fabric remnants from a destash might just have resurrected it and triggered memories of typing classes many moons ago.

There was enough space fabric to make two small quilts (~40" square) for Project Linus and as I had ideal fabric in my stash for the sashing and binding, all I needed to get was some fleece for the backing.

Another thing to check is that the presser foot is up when you are threading the machine. If the foot is down, the thread can not sit properly in the tension disks and this can cause looping on the underside of the fabric.

@b3lha Does the bunching of threads that occurs with the rose pattern occur with another pattern? If it is only happening with the rose pattern, is there plenty of room around the embroidery module with nothing blocking movement when it gets to the green part of the pattern?

A reminder that today is the last day for getting these patterns. I have downloaded the patterns to look at later.

Weaver Dee are having a flash sale with 35% off almost everything (sewing machines and Horn furniture are not included, but there may be other exclusions I’ve not spotted). I’ve used them previously for patterns and haberdashery and have been pleased with their service.

Hi, I'm new... / Re: I’m new here :)

Welcome @Bibilee778

My vintage Bernina 707 was fixed by Bambers in Manchester so it might be worthwhile giving them to see if they have the parts you need.

@Bill Have a look at Helen Howe's website for spare parts and accessories - she has most things for older machines.

@Bill I don't know how active the Treadle On community is (or if there are any TSP members in it), but it might have some useful advice on how to clean the machine and/or cabinet.

@Bill  Have fun learning to “drive” it. Did it come with all the feet/attachments you are likely to need? If not, let me know as I have a variety of Singer bits and pieces that I have picked up over the years and may have some duplicates.
