Title: Yarn for Aran
Post by: Ploshkin on January 21, 2018, 10:07:55 AM
I've got a pattern for an Aran cardigan and I had decided that I wanted to use Debbie Bliss Cashmerino until I realised that it would cost me £75! (£5.00 for 50g)

I don't like knitting / wearing man made fibres but I don't mind a bit mixed in.  I like a wool with a soft feel - anything a bit coarse sets my teeth on edge if I touch it (I'm a fussy wotsit).

After a lot of searching for alternative Aran weight yarn I came across Drops Nepal which is wool / alpaca and £2.00 for 50g.  Have any of you used it or have any other suggestions?

I suppose I could order one ball to try and see how it knits up and whether or not it passes my pernickety touch test.

The only Drops yarn I have used is the Drops Delight I'm incorporating into my on going mitred square blanket.

The colours are lovely but I've found the yarn splits easily and can be a bit of a b****r to pull back.

Wool and alpaca mix sounds lovely, try one ball and see how it goes.
