Hope those who are able to come along to Sewing Club this afternoon have a lovely time!

I'm still away on holiday without my sewing machine, though I have been collecting sewing goodies on my travels.

I'm away on holiday so no sewing, but did manage to get 3 sewing patterns and some shirring elastic in a charity shop so please with that.
I'll be back at sewing club  next week

I occasionally creep over to the dark side but I'm full of awe and admiration for what you have all produced.  It will be impossible to choose for whom to vote.

As this is a sewalong @So Chic and not a contest there will be no voting!

Fun with Fabric / Working with leather
« on: March 12, 2024, 12:05:00 PM »
I'm not experienced when it come to working with leather but I do have some scraps, one hide and a good sized piece. I also have a 1980s black jacket I'm going to repurpose.

The piece of leather is too stiff and thick for me to sew with my sewing machine, so I thought it could be good cut up into table mats. It's a dark red with a texture embossed into it.

Other than a sharp craft knife and a ruler are there any other tools I need? Do I need to do anything with the edges? Would it look better with some sort of banding marked as a border?

@Tamnymore and @Bjay I'm really looking forwards to seeing your completed projects.

I have some curtains to shorten for us and a friend. In both cases the off cuts to be made into cushion covers.

Having seen @Bodgeitandscarper sewing machine covers I am even more convinced my poor machines should get covers too. I need to keep it simple though!

Bear now has more stuffing and is sewn up, plus has eyes and a bow. Feels like he needs a little waistcoat as well

I have made the head section of my How Joyful Bear, and its now dawning on me how enormous the final bear is likely to be!

Hiya @Starryfish it'd be OK in either competition, looking forward to seeing it :-)

I have lots of possible projects, but perhaps sewing machine covers and new covers for the hallway bench cushions would be first.
