Thanks Lizzy777 I did see one of them on pattern review that was having the same problem as me. I just can't get it to sit neatly. I've just bought some binding so hopefully that tip will work and I'll update.

I had a search here and didn't turn anything must try again with a few different terms maybe.

I did find one on pattern review that suggested a binding for the elastic instead of turning down the neckline which I might try. I'm not happy with the finish on the sleeve ties either I'm thinking I might back them with the fabric if I have enough left over.

Sewing Spaces and Furniture / Re: Sewing room flooring

I agree with ploshkin about commercial laminate flooring. We did the kids bedroom in it last year and honestly it still looks as good as the day it went down. There is furniture dragged around the room (they like re arranging!) and at least once a day someone is building trains or playing cars and rolling them ⎌around on it.

Just wondering if anyone has made this? I'm making view D and I'm finding it hard to get the elastic casing right due to the shape of the neckline and wondering if anyone has any tips please.

I have started a few small bits. My nana is in a nursing home and they have a Christmas fair every year that I try and make some bits to donate for. This year I'm trying to fill a jar with hair bows which is great for using up scraps and I will probably make some bunting and some nativity scene wall hangings.

I nearly got that one as well but there wasn't a benefit in maximising shipping so I said I'd try this one first and see how it went. I have a DD nearly 4 so really liked the idea of there being so many sizes in the pattern and I'm trying to build up a good base of tried and tested patterns for us both.

Fun with Fabric / Lawn
« on: May 25, 2017, 21:59:30 PM »
I have 1.5 mrs of a gorgeous lawn that was a bit pricier than I usually would spend but I fell in love with it! I'm completely unable to decide what to do with it though. I was debating making a cowl neck princess seamed top that I've made before and like but something is stopping me. Can anyone help me be brave before the brief Irish summer is gone!!

something like a pair of pj shorts? Oliver+S have a good free pattern I think (though it would require printing out)

My first Jalie pattern has arrived and I'm looking forward to trying it. Has anyone and tips or anything to look out for with their patterns please?

I really must get my fabric out and see what I have enough for. I found three dress in DD's drawer made form it in different colours so who knows what's left. I loved it some much I bought some in all 5 colours I could find!

Oh I like! Can I ask is the fabric drapey or fairly stiff? I've just made a pair of high waisted black trousers and I'm really really happy with them and would love to try them in a more casual fabric (and I have recently bought a fab pair of high platform type sandals I want something to wear with!)

Thats exactly it. There's a few different ones, the one I use is run by An Post (the Irish postal service). They give you an identifying code to put after your name and a UK address (A warehouse somewhere in the UK) so you can avail of free shipping or to use sellers that won't ship to Ireland. They then deliver it to your nominated post office where you pay €3.75 on collecting it.

Another company does similar but would leave it in a locker located somewhere like a petrol station where you can access it with a code 24 hours a day.

In the wardrobe / Re: invisible zip
« on: May 15, 2017, 16:26:00 PM »
Yep I always put a strip of iron on interfacing onto the edge about two fingers wide and make sure it goes a little bit past where the zip will end. I use an invisible zipper foot and am usually pretty happy with it.
