Title: Hobbycraft 1/2 price sewing event
Post by: Lilian on May 16, 2017, 22:44:43 PM
I visited Hobbycraft today looking for 100% cotton thread, they have a half price sewing sale.  I bought a Simplicity pattern for £3.47!.  they had quite a few items on sale, rulers, thread, fabric and fat quarters  :)

I more or less missed the last sale as all the big black reels had gone and when I checked yesterday, there weren't any online but there were several in my local store so I'd suggest you go to a store to increase your chances of success.

I also nabbed a few metallic threads while I was there to try out on some of the dance dresses - I've never used it before so any tips are welcome.

I went to my local mini retail park on Saturday morning, but didn't bother to go into Hobbycraft.  :(

I've just returned from a visit to Hobbycraft in Preston, the sale is still on I'm glad to say. Gutterman all-purpose thread is only 87p, down from £1.37 so naturally several reels have accompanied me home as well as the reel of quilting thread that was the object of my visit 0_0
Thanks for the info as I'd never have known about the sale otherwise

While I've not actually used metallic thread, I have read about using it in embroidery machines where they recommend using a needle with a large eye to help it flow through.

Yes definitely get yourself a packet of the specialist needles otherwise you'll just shred the thread.

my first order from them arrived yesterday and I unpacked it to find 3 x 500m of White when I knew I'd ordered Ivory..
( I still have a huge stash of white I'd ordered from the 'niftyfinger' ebay seller who sold the bargain coates thread)checked delivery slip ....said number 800 white  :[, checked order on website which said 800 white :\ and then checked original email when I placed order 3 x Off White... I knew I was right.. Phoned them up explained problem and very helpful lady reordered the  thread  and told me to keep the white  0_0

I remember from a couple of temp jobs in the past it was common to see orders written as '3 off this product' and '25 off that product'. I bet the person fulfilling your order glanced in a hurry and went into auto pilot. It's still wrong but just might be why it happened.
