In our sewing class we are trying to make things for a christmas fayre. Everything will be pretty cheap, between £1 and £5 as I don't think people will be willing to spend more than that.
We are using up scrap fabric but will need to buy a few things like zips. I am looking to buy 20 or 30 zips, mainly black or white for purses. Not actually sure what size, but pretty small. Anyone know of any websites that sell zips as cheaply as possible?

Thank you so much, my searches never come up with such great deals. I had no idea about the continuous zipper thing, what a great idea and I have ordered 5 metres of both black and white with extra fasteners. I hope it isn't too fiddly.

Glad to help. I hope it works out ok. I've a feeling there's a knack...maybe keeping all the sliders on rather than doing it individually??? Check out Youtube, there's bound to be something there. :)

Check eBay, I bought about 200 ( I haven't counted them) mixed size zips in a mix of metal and plastic and different styles for a £5 including PnP.
But I probably won't need to buy another zip this lifetime...

That's the third advert you haven't paid for ALAN. Getting tiresome now.

Just to say I bought a cheap invisible zip once and really regretted it (could not get it to go in properly). I should think budget ones would be fine for what you want but for clothing I stick to YKK now

Thanks Fran.

Just ordered some open end zips from Nova Trimmings ( thanks Morgan) I have 14 tops to make and want them to be back closed, but here I can only find quite heavy open ended zips for the length I need. This thread couldn't have come at a better time!

Croft Mills very often have cheap zip bundles.

I've had "selection" packs from various places, but Amazon, Ebay and William Gee all spring to mind. If I'm after long zips for my bags, I buy the "by the metre" continuous zips and sliders from Merrick and Day. These are only in 2 shades of beige though. They also do long coloured zips for box cushions.

My zippers arrived this morning from Nova Trimmings. Very pleased.

The MyDecozo video shows simply and clearly how to put a slider on a continuous zip. I got quite good at it with a bit of practice.
