A Good Yarn / Re: Self Patterning Yarns
« on: March 10, 2020, 15:48:32 PM »
I too loath self patterning yarns, too much faff to get the stripes right and a horrendous effect if you don't..

Mind you I made socks from WYS self patterning wool and the stripes were fine. I must just have the correct sized foot :D

@Vezelay I think your dress is lovely.  Its such a nice fresh fabric. I know you say its out of your comfort zone but I think it looks fab.

I think you could go a tad shorter in the hem length but before you commit I would try sitting down in the dress to check you are not showing too much leg (unless you want to, of course ;))

The neckline looks fine to me.

As for the arms you are right to think its still only March but most of the wedding venues in York are well heated but some of the churches are not so cosy!

I bet you get so many compliments you decide to keep it as a dress.  We all need one smart dress in our lives.

Courses & Classes / Re: Westalee rulers course
« on: March 06, 2020, 19:20:24 PM »
Yesterday I completed my ruler quilting course.  It was absolutely fabulous.

I learned so much and had such a good time.

Angie Attwood the tutor really knew her stuff and had a excellent teaching style.  Simply Stitch studio in a lovely part of West Yorkshire is a lovely space and has great cake!

I’d had the rulers for ages but never got to grips with them but am a lot happier now. My stitch length still needs some work but is improving.

The rulers are so versatile and its amazing what you can do with the basic sample set.

I’m hoping to attend a course to do Angie’s Jewel Quilt later this year, it is stunning.

I wonder if you could use the 5/8” one for princess seams?

OK me first.

I would love either, a postcard would go on my happy beam.

A mug rug would be USED. If something has a purpose I would always use it for more than decoration.

My lovely cushion from Imi sits on my sewing chair and is used (carefully) and enjoyed everyday.

Whoever gets my name, make what gives you joy to sew.

Whoever’s name I get, good luck.
