A few weeks ago I purchased this from a girl off faceache who makes things with flotsam and jetsom from the Northumberland coast .. I saw it and adored it, so bought it ... initially as a birthday gift for a friend but ... Nah! its not going anywhere .. I added the button windows (they were painted on) and it sits on the mantlepiece in the dining room.

As my forays into the Darkside recently have revolved around quilting, not only quilting the enormous thing but the Advent Advent and now the other smaller and more time sensitive thing I decided a lil light relief from all the interminable quilting was in order....
So I thought I would try a lil applique ....

Wow, Imi. Love them both <3

Both are really lovely - don't forget your washing line on the applique! Just thinking, could you not sew the washing down, but just sew on the corners, like it would be pegged on the line?

Very nice.

That is lovely I like the original piece but I like your quilted one better. I thinka bit of light relief is what a lot of us need at the moment.
-
They are both gorgeous <3

Makes a nice change from blocks. I hope you had fun putting that together.
-
Gaw - juss!
I've been meaning to try appliqué for a while now - must get my arse in gear self inspired and organised.

Thank you girls, the trouble with me is I get caught up in the Verisimilitude of it all ... I dont seem to be able to do cutsie/simple/what is the right word???
Example: The Village (https://photos.app.goo.gl/ziqdiLfSsQKnwmrh7)
Here we are today, the bindings halfway sewn and I need to rouse Elvistoo from his slumbers and get him to whack out a label (Oh yes I do @Lowena') and then we are done.

Only people in their dotage, with no memory need labels @Iminei :P

I have that problem too. On the same lines I can't cope with doing applique with unfinished edges, however much I love it when other people do it.
-
Absolutely @Acorn .. me too and the lines not being in the right place ... Its gorgeous but I couldnt do it and be pleased with it ... Which is why I adore my new Mug Rug from Sandra !!!

That’s great @Iminei
I find being creative/arty quite difficult because it has to be just so. I don’t know if that’s an age thing and how we were educated at school. No freedom of expression as such. Stifling rules.
When I did C&G the younger ones found it easier to design and create on the stand. I found it quite difficult.

Aaaaaaaand its done!
Elvistoo had the brilliant idea of combining the Hanging sleeve and a label and Im very pleased...
