Only critique I can offer ... and remember I couldn't make a bag to save my life ...
is that the zipper teeth looks a bit large proportionately to the bag, but I'm loving the combination of fabrics.

Thanks for those numbers Girls, so anything over 50,000 may not be as unused as advertised!

I read that you had to stand up and push/pull to work them. Is that right?

Are you thinking of weaving on a loom Sewbee ????

I have been considering an embroidery machine since early last year ... but have deferred for exactly the reasons mentioned in this thread .... cost, usability, whether it would be used etc etc .... but over the course of a year and three quarters reading up and researching them, then finding one in what seems to be nearly new condition, with the hideously expensive software, at a reasonable cost coupled with a desperately guilty husband with absolutely no idea what to get his wife for her birthday, the time seems just right!  :D

Whether or not I will use it remains to be seen, but you can't tell that until you get your mitts on one and I found nowhere prepared to hire one out! (And I did try)

I think the machines are getting much more user friendly now, or at least the two I tried seemed pretty intuitive ... and there are plenty of tuts on t'internet on how to use the software.

So wish me luck Girls and if you are on our route (Salisbury, Basingstoke, M25, Chelmsford, Colchester) and see a grey BMW with a girl with a silvery bob grinning like a loon in the passenger seat speeding past your window tomorrow, give her a wave!

£31.00 now and yes looks lovely ...
I'm thinking of alternatives to the sweat shop (aka ironing board in the corner of the dining room
loaded up with whichever project Im currently working on.)

I think the reason they are coming up on ebay now is ... ahem ... their owners are popping off to that great sewing room in the sky .... or Golden Acres down the road, I'm afraid!

Wish there was one going in Blandford :(

I'm still intrigued to know exactly the sort of things you are going to embroider

Well I was thinking of embroidering some lovely lily of the valley on some hand towels and a poppy on some elasticated beige nylon trousers and then, just for you ... some roses along the bottom edge of a beige Green cardi ...
sound nice Low ???

Reason for editing ... Beige ?? what was I thinking???

Quick question ....

What number would you expect to find in the Stitch counter of a machine thats only been used twice ????

Yup we are off to Colchester (jeez louise!) on Monday to view said machine. Its going to be set up for me to see and I thought I would sneak  a look at the total on the stitch counter.

Any ideas ???

Off out now, Operation Clean and Tidy will commence 10am tomorrow.

I have to tidy and clear the desk upstairs in the sewing/art/wardrobe/spare room this weekend.
If I'm lucky enough to be on the receiving end of a  machine it will need somewhere to live.

If I start about 10 am I think I'll hit desktop about 1pm ....  terrible how it all mounts up isnt it?  :o

Block of the Month 2017 / Re: Block of the Month - October
« on: October 07, 2017, 08:20:06 AM »
Oh Fajita,

I am so sorry if I didnt make the destructions clear enough but how brave are you to post a pic!!!

Everyone has problems as they go along with their projects but few are honest or brave enough to own up to them ...

For instance in this project ... After I had finished sewing the first part of the wreath together and had a clear board,
I got distracted by a phone call half way through the cutting and laying out of the second set of pieces .....
when I had finished all the cutting and pinning to my board I had a great big hole in the 'jigsaw' right in the middle!!

I searched high, I searched low, I sifted through the waste, I moved pieces around ... an hour later I gave up sewed four more 5" blocks together and cut a replacement and carried on.

As I cleared up for the evening and loaded the ironing board in the corner up with the sweat shop I spied, proudly pinned to the 'design wall' i front of my eyes, the errant block, quietly laughing at me!!!! GGGGGGRRRR !!!!!!!!

I hope you haven't been too disheartened and can maybe come back to this 'block' afresh next week or so ... you have a lovely range of blocks in the BOM HOF and it would be a shame to miss one!
