@Surest1tch - 20 years? oh heck!

In the wardrobe / wardrobe sort out
« on: Yesterday at 20:14:19 »
I'm going to have a wardrobe sort out now we've moved.

I did have a clear out before I moved of things that were too small or constricting in any way.

I'm now wondering if I need to get rid of anything largely polyester as they are horrible when a hot flush hits.
I'm also not sure I want anything 100% wool, as that's too warm.
Also I have a lot of coats, and lots of footwear of various comfort levels.

I am doing more social activities and not going in an office anymore, so I guess that changes what's useful in a wardrobe.

Anyone done something similar? And if so how did you tackle it?

I have internet access finally, though no desk/second monitor and etc as yet.

All the stuff from the various moves arrived in 3 different lots and the plants in pots are coming from the garden of someone in OH's family today.

Give me a few more days and I'll osrt contest thingies out (hopefully).

@cakeymcdoodle I've had a double house move in July/August/September, and only got internet access at the new house today.
OH and I are merging the contents of my old house and his apartment into a bungalow and as you can imagine there is flat pack and boxes everywhere.

There has been no sewing at all, and though I will have a sewing room here its just a pile of boxes at the moment.
@Iminei and @Bodgeitandscarper  thanks for the leeway!

Just checking in briefly to say the house purchase went fine, and two our of three moves have now happened, final lot is coming on Wednesday (incl the fridge, washing machine etc).
Phone line is working but internet won't be activated until 14th September.

Briefly back at the flat to do laundry and use the internet.

The instructions in the photo gallery seem to make sense so the challenge would be whether I can actually follow them correctly to produce the blocks.
I think I could.
And it would be a good learning exercise for me to try a different sewing technique (away from my usual garment sewing).

I am super behind, but maybe I could follow these next year, I love how they look in the beautiful gallery.
You are all so talented, what a lovely feast for the eyes.

Oh that's just lovely!
Enjoy sewing in there :-)

Fascinating thread, I am paying close attention for my new room.

Have to echo on the fading, when I removed the furniture from the front bedroom of the old house, the wallpaper was faded and the backs of the blackout curtains were discoloured where they had faced the sun.
That room got strong morning sun, and I kept the curtains shut in the summer.

Think I'd better make some covers for my machines!

The timeframe doesn't quite work for me, but I'll join in next time.

I've made dressy tops from stretch velvet which have been good for meals out/social things.
I wear them with plain dark trousers.

@Bumblebuncher - all I can say is 'Ouch' to that.
I discovered the hard way too that some family members do not value hand made items so I only sew for the friends/family I want to who I know will appreciate it.

On the trends side I have a few of the fabrics in my stash, so will proceed to make myself a leopard print top and something in stretch lace (with sheer sleeves) but opaque body.
Since I moved to Nottingham which coincided with things opening up more I've been to lots of social things with OHs family and friends, and aware that there is some scope there for comfortable slightly dressy things.

yeah the good old tank tops making a comeback.
Must be trendy, we went to a get together with OHs family recently, and a young trendy niece was wearing what looked like a sleeveless cricket pullover

this shows it finished,7699.msg125946.html#msg125946
and this is just a comment on the daily thread before where its mentioned as a 'removable cover with zipper'.
