A little more on this; I was able to order a bunch of empty wooden spools from Amazon.  But the diameters were all too small for the adapter.  To solve this, I am learning to use the drill press we just bought. I love power tools!

I rarely work very large for want of a way to support the weight.  How would you support something heavy?

My good shears are Kai & Gingher. The Ginghers go in my travel kits.

That's a pretty one @Iminei   I haven't seen that design before. The fabric choices are nice and also creative.

So no one here will be throwing any snowballs your way.

@Surest1tch I don’t either. I also fail to understand why no one, other than me, was wiling to stand up to the board bullies.

I posted this on another site devoted to a different topic, but with a philosophy similar to yours.

I got this delightful response;
Quote
They look wonderfully blasphemous :)

And once again, this is why I love you all.

BTW, @realale my husband, whose ancestry is Scottish, loves your screen name.

..how come those people were so sure they were right? Anyway, that's their problem, not yours. It's always interesting to see the variations colour and value placement gives to a simple pattern.

Because they are dogmatic, condescending (naughty word of your choice) bullies.

I am proud of my work as well as all of the blocks my guild friends made.

If you’ve read the rant thread in the last couple of weeks, you will already know what I am talking about.
For those who haven’t, I will do my best to summarize.  I made an hourglass block that I really liked. On another site where I had posted it, I was met with dogma & rudeness.(Evidently, I didn’t make it in the one and only way that they deemed correct.)

I told them where to go, and am done with them.  You folks are much more fun. I had made this for my quilt guild, where we were encouraged to be creative.  I just love all of the blocks people brought in, so I thought you might like to see the wonderfully creative blocks we all made.

The one I made is circled in green.

A little more on this.  I have drilled out 5 wooden spools with slightly narrow diameters. I have wound thread on 2 so far.   You may wonder how to make the thread stay on the spool when you begin winding.

I found nothing on this, in my research. So I had to experiment on my own. I started with the simplest thing; I just taped the end onto the spool.  As long as the tape lays smoothly, it will wind neatly.

Don't click any links, but go directly to their website.  If it's  legit, you should see it there.

I had another empty spool from a different manufacturer. The hole in the spool was 1mm (yes, just 1mm) too narrow for the adapter.  I learned that the manufacturer of that thread uses spools made of really hard plastic, when I drilled the hole a bit wider.  Took me 15 minutes, but I did it!

@Celia enjoy it for many years!  :VV:   Do you give your machines names?  If so, what is the name of this one?

I've never used those, but I imagine they can work well.
