Title: What is Yarn Weight 4?
Post by: b15erk on October 08, 2018, 16:38:58 PM
I've just found a really nice sweater pattern I would like to make.  It's from Red Heart and is done on 5mm (US8) knitting needles, it's called Red Heart Chic and listed as 'YarnWeight 4'.

I'm thinking it may be Aran weight, which is thicker than I was wanting to knit. Am I right?  And would it knit up in Double Knit?

Any help appreciated.

Thank you,

Jessie

It's also what we think of (here in the US) as standard craft store yarn. Most frequently acrylic and turned into zillions of hata and scarves for charity and countless baby blankets. Red Heart is a major manufacturer of it.
