This is my quilted jacket I bought from Monsoon in March. (Top pic)
I’ve used the pics from their website to show what it looks like on a model.
I don’t know what you call the way the sleeves are attached but it’s comfortable to wear. I was thinking of using this to make a pattern but I also have a second quilted jacket that I also want to replicate.

If I was making an unlined one (I probably wouldn't!) I'd be inclined to at least bind the seams so they didn't look a mess. Thats a point ... Did the GBSB line their jackets???? I imagine with the ridiculous time constraint they wuldnt havetime to both make the fabric, layer it, quilt it, make the jacket, line it and bind the outside edges too ... So I bet the insides look a right mess

I plan to overlock the seams as I want it to be an easy lightweight summer jacket.

@Adey1981
@Mr Twingo

I’ve just tried it on my phone and everything’s working as it should be this morning. The three bars and the Actions button.

iPhone 12 using Chrome not Safari browser.

Not sure it that helps?

I have two treadles, one at the pub and one here. Sadly both need new belts but one day....... (pre apocalypse hopefully!!  :laughing:)

I bought a pack of 2 leather belts via Amazon.
Sadly, I can’t buy direct from U.K. shops as few will post to Ireland now and they don’t want the faff of completing customs paperwork.  :(

@Bumblebuncher
@b15erk

Yes, they are highly prized but have you seen them advertised for €550?

Yep, that’s what she’s got it up for.  :laughing:

As I said, they sometimes ask for silly money over here.  :rolleyes:

Just for a laugh. Guess how much they’re asking for this machine..   [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

@Surest1tch

It might well be the original belt but there’s no known history… although, there was a business card inside the instruction booklet for a nearby B&B that’s less than 2 miles from where I live. According to my local friend, they’ve been there years so it might have belonged to them. I might give them a call and ask.

Thank you for all your lovely comments.

I wasn’t really expecting anyone to be particularly interested in my acquisition so I’m chuffed that several of you have commented on my thread and given me further guidance and made me feel that buying it wasn’t a silly decision.

I’ve also received an incredibly thoughtful email from one TSP-er with lots of valuable tips and advice and I’m especially humbled given how otherwise occupied they are with stuff at the moment.  :hug:

I’ll keep you all posted on my progress.  :thumb:

Yes, the rhythmic motion when ‘treadling’ is really quite hypnotic and soothing.

I recently bought this from a local charity shop for €80. It’s in pretty decent condition, and seems to be working ok and it came with a few bits.

It needs a clean so I’m thinking I’ll take it apart to get all the old grease and gunk out and and DH is going to refurb the treadle base for me.

It had a manual inside one of the drawers for a 201, so I wonder what happened to that one?

I’ve taken off the rubber mat on the treadle foot and removed the leather belt so that’s why it looks loose in the photos.

I have a couple of soft covers on my son’s bed that lose the Single bed size duvet inside them regularly. I just safety pin the duvet into the corners of the cover to keep it in place.

Welcome @RosyPosy

Well done on teaching yourself some P&Q skills. I’m glad you enjoyed it (mostly).

I liked the look of that book @Celia  and @Acorn but when I looked closely it's waaayyy beyond my sewing capabilities :(

I very much doubt that, Lowena.
Having now finished sewn my first quilt (another is in the early stages of construction), there’s a huge amount of planning, measuring and general faffing with a quilt and I think a basic fabric bag is actually a much easier and quicker project.

Debbie Shore has some great books and YouTube tutorials for newbie bag makers.

You could always start with a basic grocery type shopping tote, if you fancied giving it a try?

Seriously?I wouldn't dream of telling my OH he couldn't wear something if he wanted to and it still fitted - and do you really care?

I don’t think donating a 40 year old suit should count as ‘throw it away’ culture.
