Hi,
My name is Fran Bowman and I live in central California, USA.
My sewing interests are: making garments and household items for myself and gifts; sewing for doll repairs and doll clothes (I run a doll hospital); and patchwork quilting. I also love fabrics and sell them on eBay.
I found this site on google when I was searching for how to repair my Singer 201. This is the machine that my mother bought new in about 1954, and I learned to sew on. I also own a Singer Featherweight machine made in 1948.
On your website I found a discussion of the exact problem I was having with skipped stitches, and I was able to fix my machine quickly with that help!

Welcome to TSP @dolldocdavis

What @Iminei means @dolldocdavis is she has spotted the words ‘patchwork quilting’ She will be manically rubbing her hands together plotting to whisk you over to what we call here, the Darkside. There a few members who sew doll clothes and plenty of others sewing garments, home furnishings and bags. I too have Featherweight and love it to bits. Welcome to TSP.

Hello from me too!

Hello @dolldocdavis welcome to TSP. I'm another who uses vintage Singers for darkside stuff, but more modern machines for clothes and stretchy fabrics.

Hello Doc!
Good to have you here. I was going to call you Fran, but @Iminei christened you "Doc" officially, right off the bat, so I think it will stick - at least in my brain!
Glad you were able to fix your 201 so quickly. For any future more problematic issues are you aware of the vintagesingermachines group?
