A Good Yarn / Wrist warmers/fingerless gloves
« on: January 04, 2022, 09:36:56 AM »
This December I bought three pairs of fingerless gloves from Turtle Doves who take old cashmere jumpers and make new items from them.

I thought I would gift a pair to my A Gell, my secret Santa and then another good cause came up and snaffled the final pair.

Today on faceache I saw a promo for Turtle Doves with a small vid showing how the take the old jumpers and recycle them ....

Now I thought they would've unravelled the jumpers and reknitted the gloves ... apparently not ... the Vid shows how they wash, dry and then CUT the cashmere and SEW the gloves

Do you see where Im going here?????

Can you cut into knitted garments and sew them into new???

Of course you can, even I know you can cut into anything ... but I mean successfully without just having an unravelled mess ...

and more importantly, much more than this (I diiiiid it myyyyyyyyyy wayyyyyy)

Do you think I can cut apart a cashmere jumper and make myself a pair of fingerless gloves ????

Alterations Advice Please / PJ Problemo
« on: November 30, 2021, 07:22:54 AM »
On Sunday I popped into Tesco to return some bras and came out with a lovely pair of PJ bottoms ... Soft grey and pink check with pockets!!! (manufacturers have twigged that since we have been living in pjs since 2020 pockets would be a good idea YAY!) and yesterday I went to put them on .....

 :scream:   :headbang:

The lil hanger they were on said size 8-10   :thumb:... the label (teeny tiny) had no size on it (at least that I could see) and when I put them on they were GINORMOUS!!!!! Seriously!

Now 'tis the season of cosy fires and the last few days have been very cold so naturally when I detagged them the tags went into starting a fire, as did the receipt so all I have is an EEEEEnormous pair of Pjs, the hanger and no proof of purchase ... WHAT do I do ???

Anyone want a very lovely pair of Pink and Pale grey PJ bots ??? They have turn ups and pockets !!!  :thumb:
£10 P&P included???

And so my search for an MJ Kinman Gemstone pattern has succeeded at last!

Ever since I saw this Huge Stunning Quilt at FOQ 2017

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I was enthralled and wanted to try and make one or own one.

I tried years ago to buy one from America and it eventually got here along with a shed load of extra charges from the Post Office. I refused to pay them, contacted the company and got a refund ... All good but No pattern! :(

A year and a half ago (march 2020) I saw that Cotton Patch were selling (from the UK) the patterns as a monthly BOM ... you could even get the pattern with the fabric pack !!!!  but the cost ££££££
Spoiler: show
 £374.00 !!!!!!! :scream:

They wouldnt let you have just the one, you had to subscribe for the whole 12 and I was out of work and brassic at the time. I consulted with @Puzzler  on this but in the end could justify the cost not one iota.

Then a couple of months ago I saw listing on UKQU Destash ... some lady had subscribed to the Cotton Patch's BOM but hadnt made any of them and was selling the individual patterns and fabric packs off.

I was late to the listing so most of the glorious ones  had been snapped up but she was awaiting Octobers kit (My birthday) and had a couple more left. I interested my friend in one and decided to take the plunge and buy what was left ... after all What had I spent nearly every waking hour in a Carpark this summer for ????

So after Three years of wanting one I finally have not One, not Two, not Three but FOUR of them.
A lil excessive you may think but you cant look a gift horse in the mouth ....

The lady had to wait until Pink Tourmaline, the October birthstone had arrived at her door before posting so I waited too.

But the wait ended yesterday ... I was surprised at how small the package was but not disappointed by the contents.

The technique is something Ive never done before but there is a simplified free downloadable pattern on MJ Kinmanns  (excellent) website to practice on before going for gold!

So I have Three of these in my sticky paws, which to be true is a tad excessive and wondered whether there may be someone out there who would like the December birthstone, Tanzanite pack ??

If not, No problem, Im in no rush to sell it off but if like me, you have drooled and coveted one of these patterns, now could be your chance.

I have a 'project' in mind and wonder if we have enough Darksiders interested in making a lil something for one of our TSPers ???

One block (depending on how many volunteer) and I'll bring it all together .... Any takers?

Fun with Fabric / Please ... Search your Stash for this Scandi Fabric!
« on: October 27, 2021, 10:54:42 AM »
My Auntie Gell wants me to make her two matching cushions for the Skandi quilt and existing cushion in her lounge.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]    [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I made these in 2016 when the skandi thing was all the rage and am now finding myself in a bit if a pickle as I scour the Tinternet to no avail .

I only need a lil of the fabrics...

So Far I have Sourced the Red Reindeer ... Thank you to Joy Monks on Faceache,
The Grey/Cream stripe, Thank you to Judy McGlinchey from the West Coast of Scotland via Faceache,

I have enough of the Red Snowflake and the Red Stripe so

ALL I need to find now is The Grey/Cream Snowflake and it would be lovely to find the Grey Reindeer !!!

A strip of 8" wide would be ample but at the very least I need FOUR 6 1/2" fussy cut Squares of each fabric
apart from the Reindeer of which I would only need ONE Fussy cut 6 1/2" sq.

Surely that is not too much to ask???

Please Search your Stash!!!
