Hi everyone, first post so be gentle please...anyhow...
I need advice and not a little guidance in respect of a cutting disc pinking tool.
First of all, I’m not a ‘sewista’, I am however a self employed modeller, and sell my services to a local company where we build very large bespoke RC model planes for clients.
Now, I’m building a medium/large size i.e. 1/4 scale WW1 biplane, such planes have ‘tape’ covering the wing ribs...so I’m thinking about using a pinking cutting disc to make these tapes...hence...
My enquiry is a follows...
Is there a source for cutting wheels of the pinking variety with a choice of teeth spacing?

@Graeme H I have only eve seen one sort. I did a search and could not find anything other than the standard 45mm pinking blade. No manufacturer gives options.
What you can get is tiny pinking shears with different spacings. If you are cutting a long strip, it could get tedious.

Welcome @Graeme H :)

Sew Easy have a pack of three different blades for 45mm cutters, but I think one of these might be to create perforations.

Thanks for the replies :)
I’ve has a look at the various cutting tools i.e. 28, 45 and 60mm diameter, but the pinking disc I’m seeing is too coarse, and the stuff I’m cutting is a fair old length, so small shears are a no-no....
So a fine toothed pinking disc would be ideal...if there is such an animal?

@Graeme H from my browsing the pinking blades all appear to be about the same size pink no matter the size or brand.
Welcome. Feel free to ask any questions you have. We might be of more help at some point.

I feared that might be the case, but was hoping that the ‘experts’ may have been able to point me in a different direction to what my own searches had been able to uncover

@Graeme H
I googled ' pinking shears pitch ' and discovered shears with pitch of 3,5,7 mm on ebay.com.

There's even a diagram of the relative sizes to see. The seller states that they don't ship to the UK :'( but it proves that they are available. So don't give up the hunt!

The Olfa pinking blade has some technical info that might relate to pitch.

There is also a video showing how it cuts, conveniently filmed on a cutting mat with a 1” grid for scale.

Try Etsy - there seem to be ones listed with different size pitch there, they look like they are available in the UK but not many in stock.
