Fun with Fabric / Re: Immanuels
« on: May 29, 2020, 11:45:22 AM »
Should I wash the viscose fabric before I start to cut out?

Definitely!   I wash all mine just in case of shrinkage, to get rid of finish on the fabric and excess dye.  And viscose can really shrink.

@KayK have they taken your money?  As someone who worked for a dealer I feel that they have had to order it from Bernina.  They can take a while depending on whether there are  any in the country at the time.

@BrendaP I agree about the Husqvarna overlockers.  I’ve used countless makes and never liked them.  But they aren’t made by Husqvarna.

Welcome to the forum.  Wonderful clothes from those eras. Just wish I had the shape to wear them.

Great piccies @BrendaP but OMG that bra must have been soooooo uncomfortable cutting in the way it is.

I managed to watch one of her tailoring videos when they did their free days a while ago.  I thought she was very good and made it simple with some interesting tips.  I had thought of buying them.

you Can download them but you still need access to the app or website in order to watch.  It’s a strange system.  So no app or website means no videos!

I wonder how they and us stand legally

Well I hope they make the videos available to download somehow as they were bought on a 'forever' basis and the patterns etc

@sewmuchmore that’s a good idea.  I've seen a couple of blouses and wondered how I’d cope with buttons at the back.

I see now that that would be too bulky, but wouldn't there be a raw edge within the fold?

No.  At the base of the neckline where it is straight you have stay stitched and pivoted at the corners.  Then you clip into the corners and turn the little bit of fabric over so you have a small folded piece.  I see the point but it’s fiddly and results  in a mess with bits dangling from the side facings.
