On the off chance anybody is near Dublin, there's a 222k on Done Deal for €75.

Featherweights don't really appeal to me (don't know why not; please don't tell me how wonderful they are because I don't need much encouragement ;)) but even I'm tempted to go on a road trip today.

For that price, how can you possible resist it? ;) :P 0_0

That's a cracking price for that machine!

I'm beginning to see the appeal of these Featherweights, especially if I could get one which was born in the same year as me!

Me too, but I keep telling myself I haven't got room. The owner of the little sewing machine shop in Carmarthen showed me his one day. It is absolutely pristine and has the Singer Centennial badge.

But they're only little, Ploshkin!

Mine was!

Good for you, Brenda. Did you deliberately get one of the same vintage as yourself or was it just luck?

Plosh - is this the sewing machine place in the market? It's just that I keep going to look for it but I can't find it. :[

Just luck!

Acorn, it's outside the market in the little precinct beside the market hall. It's called The Singer Sewing Centre but sells mainly Pfaffs. It's a bit chaotic and the owner appears a bit dithery but really knows his machines. I got my Pfaff and my overlocker from him.
-
Thank you - I thought I was going loopy - I've walked around inside the market looking for it so many times!
My main machine is a Pfaff - couldn't be better. Does he do servicing? I wonder if he would have a replacement bulb for it - it has a very unusual one, and I have had to replace it with a lower powered car numberplate bulb.
-
Acorn, I think he only services machines that he has sold. I know he won't do ones that people have bought online. It wouldn't hurt to ask if you didn't buy it online. He probably does have bulbs, there's all sorts of stuff tucked away. He does sell Gutterman thread which is useful even though 35 miles is a long way to travel for thread.

We go to Carmarthen fairly often (less often since M&S opened in Aberystwyth).
I must have had my Pfaff for almost 10 years, and I can't for the life of me remember where I got it. Most likely through a magazine, I think. And my new (old) Featherweight came from an antique shop. I haven't the foggiest how I will get my Husqvarna Viking embroidery machine (bought online from a shop in Nottingham) serviced when the time comes - I think I (or Mr Acorn) will have to learn some new skills.
