Well I can't wait any longer ....
This has been a fabulous swap and one I think we may reprise at other times of the year so may I just kick off
The Sewing Places' Autumnal Equinox Mug Rat Swap 2019 ... The Big Reveal ....
I was an exceptionally lucky Girl and received not only my official Mug Rat from the Welsh Mountains .....

courtesy of @Ploshkin ...
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
along with, as you can see, quite a substantial bribe gift of matching fabric :*
But also a Miniature Marvel from the lovely @StitchinTime ...
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
That is pieced peeps !!!!! Seriously !! :loveit:
And BOTH of them have been perfectly bound!
Do those bindings even have starts and finishes ????
You are better men than me Gungadin!
Thank you so much girls, they are exquisite and I adore them both!
-
Oh wow. @Iminei , those are spectacular! What talented people we have in here! I have a feeling I might be saying that a lot over the weekend...
Lx

Earlier this week, I was the lucky recipient of a squishy parcel of exquisiteness.
Bravo, @Iminei and Elvis.
Another day, another parcel of joy.
Batiks and big stitch quilting are two of my very favourite things, so these are perfect for me. Thank you so much, @Lowena.
-
Here’s mine from @Sakar ..it’s sat on my sideboard...the chocolates long gone!
-
We need links to bigger pics @Pearl !!!
-
No idea how to do that but clicking on the picture makes it go big.
Thank you Effie, I was responding to Pearls pics but your post snuck in between!

Firstly, thank you to @Puzzler for this little beauty.
And thank you @Iminei for this unexpected surprise bonus mug rug.
Love 'em <3 ...they're both very much to my taste. Won't be putting a mug anywhere near them though. Don't want to spoil them.
Sandra.

My little surprises arrived yesterday after a very stressful week. Can you guess who the mystery sender is?
Well I guess not, until I insert the photo properly! -<

These two little beauties from @Efemera :loveit:
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
and this piece of art from TPMRMODDD AND Elvis. :loveit:
Well done everyone. Gorgeous!
-
They are all so lovely and all so different. Amazing imaginations and skills to then create the ideas.
-
They are all superb and what a lovely idea @Iminei. You've been very busy.
-
Thank you Cheesecake for my 2 lovely mugrats with a very nifty bit of applique and some bonus hand embroidery. [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
and a surprise package from Iminei and Elvis containing not one or two or three but four lovelies - you've certainly got the measure of Elvis now. (The darker thread on the other two didn't really show in a photo)
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
-
Who would have thought that such small things could encompass such variety! They are all beautiful, well done everybody.
-
I received this wonderful quartet from @Lisalou1965 ;
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
I’ve also had the pleasure of learning that she & I have more in common than sewing.
-
Beautiful applique from @Kitten . Thank you so much for the pair of mats <3
-
Showing the great backing fabric
-
I wish I could do machine applique, especially with curves. @Kitten has managed it faultlessly
-
I got caught out - I didn't think we were posting photos until Sunday.
This is the little batik mug rug that Sara-S sent me all the way from the USA, along with a charming hand-made card.

To the Wonderful Hernibs from The PMRSODDD
Oh you are a kind soul.... ladies, this these are my gorgeous goodies from Iminei and Elvis of course.
This, along with another act of generosity just overwhelmed me.
-
My two beautiful mats from @Sheilago
-
I give up!
Actually this is one of RJR38's mug rugs - sorry I can't seem to get the other one uploaded.
I will keep trying - have to do it on my phone and although I 'thought' I had is sussed obviously not....sorry Rachel.
-
I received a full package from @StitchinTime. Mug rug, matching coaster, and a cute little EPP kit as a bonus. I've done EEP before, but I've never seen a kit like this; I've only seen large packs of one shape template. This will be fun to complete.
Stitchin', HOW on earth do you manage such tiny piecing!? And those bindings! Barely a 1/4" and they are PERFECT! You have now challenged me to improve my skills. I'm not sure I can bring myself to use it. It may end up as a rug or wall hanging in the doll house I intend to decorate with my granddaughter. It will be safer there than on my coffee table.

All the work shown in this exchange has been lovely! I considered doing the leaf-shaped coasters like Wrenkins and Iminei received. I'm glad I changed my mind. I'd hate to be in direct competition with those creators!
I particularly like the coasters that are machine embroidered with the variegated thread. Those are sharp!
@Pearl and @Iminei what is the green spiky thing on the bottom-right coaster? I assume it's some type of nut in it's natural form- we have walnuts and pecans here that grow in a similar fashion, but I've never seen a spiky one, and in the US we don't use it as a symbol of fall.
Whoever made @Sara-S's coasters- the disappearing 9-patch under the cathedral window is very creative! I like the look!
-
The variety, and quality, is amazing. Such different ideas from one theme.
I'll post pictures once mine arrives (maybe should do a test like @hernibs did).
-
I received a gorgeous set of appliquéd mug rugs from @Lilian. The seam matching is perfect and the top stitching thread is lovely and shimmery. What’s more, they are reversible!
In an inspired move, Lilian sent them wrapped in freezer paper which will be carefully ironed and will come in very useful.
-
I also received a bonus set of mug rugs from the Phantom Mug Rug Swapper and her stitching singing sidekick.
It is lovely that both sets are appliquéd as this is something I’ve not tried myself.
-
Here are my set of 5 from Iminei: they are beautiful and a perfect colour match for my lounge [ You are not allowed to view attachments ] . Thanks @Iminei :D
-
Although I'm not a participant, I am a very respectful observer 0_0
They all look inspirational, high standard and attractive (like their creators are - I'm sure :D :D).
Annie
-
Here’s mine from Pearl along with the needle threader she also sent. Very thoughtful Pearl as it’s much needed with my shaky hand.
I’ve loved looking at all of these.
-
Here is mine from Sandra, it is beautifully made and I just love the colours and Lovely Owl.
Just checked the photo does not do it justice I might try another tomorrow
-
And another from Elvis with a little help from Imi lovely use of the variegated threads.
@Celia ... not variegated, 3 different colours ... (sewn mid/top/bottom for some reason?)
-
Oh my gosh. Those are all stunning. I have never tried anything like the items you have made and quite honestly wouldn’t know where to start. I am in awe.
-
You guys are awesome - Well done to all!
-
I've recieved a nice little card and a wonderful pieced MugRug with little appliques and a great quilting 0_0 Thank you very much, @Kenora !! :* It will directly go by the side of my sewing machine to keep my tea while working now in Wintertime! :flower:
How do you get this perfect points? And this binding?? :D
-
Wow ladies, so much talent <3
-
This is mine from @Celia beautiful fabric and nicely stitched, I like that there are two different sizes. I love them! Thank you so much Celia :flower: I couldn't seem to get the colours to look as true as they are but they are such rich colours :)
-
Here is my lovely set from @wrenkins, getting a lovely little collection of wrenkin made items in my living room now.
-
Here is my lovely mug rug from fajita with lovely fmq :) Thank you so much! [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
-
@WendyW The spiky thing is the fruit of a horse chestnut tree, the nut in the middle we commonly call a conker, they are falling from the trees at this time of year lol :) (mind your head!)
-
And another from Elvis with a little help from Imi lovely use of the variegated threads.
@Celia ... not variegated, 3 different colours ... (sewn mid/top/bottom for some reason?)
@Iminei embroidery always starts in the middle so that you don't run out of fabric at the extremes. Like drawing a map...you always run out of paper at the important bit. No? Just me???
loving that green orange and yellow man! :loveit:
@Cheesecake sorry you always seem to get stuck with me. At least your stuff is matching even if it is a bit 'rustic'. 0_0 They look very purple in the pictures. :x My pics of Effie's look all peely wally but they're lovely soft deep golds. Note to self:- get a better camera before the next swap!!! 0_0 (or is it the BAGATHON!!!!?). 0_0
-
@Cheesecake sorry you always seem to get stuck with me.
When I draw partners for our swaps it is always random and with another person (used to be him, but my neighbour is getting quite used to drawing strange names out of a bowl by now) ... This one was drawn by Puzzler
You two must be meant to be together!!! :D
@WendyW Conkers (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLGuZZraIqg) are a very autumnal thing over here ... I dont know these days (Elf and safety and all) but playing conkers in the playground used to be a big deal during school days and many efforts were made to make your conker the hardest of them all!

I had a lovely message from @WendyW last night who let me know that mine was posted ages ago but should be here soon, it is coming a long, long way. She also let me see a photo, and WOW, it's stunning, and said I can share it here.
Thank you so much. I love it.
I've not added a photo before so please bear with me.

Now according to my Ahem !!! extremely high tech method of keeping a track of things ...
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
I think the only ones not to have got to their new homes are ...
From WendyW to Kitten, though we have a pic
From Wildatlanticway to Lisalou ... but that is because of some confusion about dates so hopefully will be turning up next week
and lastly
From Hernibs to Bogwoppit, but I expect that will be on its way shortly Please ignore that last comment
Do let us know when they arrive, when theyve been posted Ladies ... and hopefully we will be cheering them past the finishing post later this week.
*** Please let me know if I have missed yours out!
-
I received the most beautiful autumnal decorated envelope yesterday. Thank you Hernibs, that alone must have taken you ages!
Contents are amazing too - so different from what I did myself. I'll wait to post pics, especially as we've had a few more days of summer weather so the change of season can wait.
@Bogwoppit had her's ages ago. P'r'aps she's nodded orf! 0_0
-
Thank you for putting all the photos together @Iminei , it seems to be a bit hit or miss as to whether I can see the photos in the thread. They all look amazing and so creative.
-
...and this camera/computer/phone challenged person is going to try to upload RJR38's second mug rug...
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
Yippee...the colours are much better in real life....thanks Rachel and b sorry for the delay.

@hernibs well done for persevering with the photo thing! It’s actually quite easy compared to some sites once you have done it a few times.
-
RJR38 I did, after Acorn told me how, understand the process but trying to post the two together didn't work....said there was an error - pics were too big I think....then went back and tried to make them smaller - augh - let's not go down that road anymore....Imi posted the ones she sent me so hopefully all is well with the world. As I said your 'brown' leaf is much nicer in real life!!
-
What a fantastic variety of coasters and mug rugs everyone has produced. Well done everyone.
-
On my other board they host a Christmas Ornament swap. It allows for huge variety dependent on peoples skills (knitting, crochet, felt ones, quilted ones etc). Do you think we should do one on here @Iminei? I don’t mind organising names etc if needed
-
@RGR_38, funny you should say that, I used to do a Crafty Secret Santa on another forum and I was going to suggest something similar
@Iminei whatcha reckon? I’m up for helping to host if you need it?
-
We already have a general TSP Secret Santa that we have held for the last two years, which of course can include homemade gifts, so I think Christmas is covered ..
However, as this swap has been so well received, I'm thinking of holding another Mug Rat Swap for the Spring Equinox!
If you like the idea, you can start thinking of designs now in preparation for it.
-
Sounds great!!!

Husband just texted me that a little parcel has arrived aaaall the way from Ireland! Eeeek, exciting, can't see it until four!!!!

Here goes.
Sorry for the delay. When I came to upload the picture I found my subscription had lapsed so hit a brick wall. I don't do money things on the phone so this afternoon I set up the computer.
Image doesn't do justice to the sparkles on the fabric and gold highlights on the embelishments. I think that I've used the little mat correctly.....
-
You girls are absolutely amazing, the work and ideas on show are fantastic.
-
I am so impressed with all of these, it's amazing the creativity that this forum produces. Well done to everybody.
-
A big "WELL DONE" everybody, some lovely work and great results.

The glass is not meant to go inside the flaps. They are just there for added insulating.
Thanks for posting so sylishly given that my work is novice quality

I've enjoyed it so much and was thinking about a "Winter Solstice" swap? if it's not too near Christmas, I don't do Christmas :\
-
I don't "do" Christmas either :S - how about a Winter Scenes swap? -<
-
I don't "do" Christmas either :S - how about a Winter Scenes swap? -<
@Kenora Scenes! I'd have to think about what fabric I have, I do have some Christmassy fabric but never used it yet. I think I could fussy cut some of it to make a scene :) :snip:
I was thinking more on the lines of Stonehenge! Lol
-
I can't see that a Winter Solstice; Winter in general or Christmas themed swap would interfere with the Secret Santa.... most people buy stuff for the Secret Santa whereas the sewaswapalongathon would be something specially made for the occasion.
I think any of the above would be a good idea and you could count me in as long as it wasn't anything too complex :P
-
I like the idea of a winter mug rug swap. :D
Also just wanted to say a big thank you to @WendyW for her autumn mug rug which arrived today along with a lovely note. It's even better in the flesh than in the photo.
Thanks again
Kitten
-
I am glad it finally arrived! Enjoy!
-
Good to know we do Secret Santa here too. My American board has been signing up for weeks and we will get our names mid-end October so we can spend time collecting and personalising. I LOVE Christmas lol
-
So Lisalou, I think you are the last to receive ... has it arrived yet ???
and @Kitten, as yours has touched down on UK soil could we have another pic please ?? !
-
Hi all, sorry - my computer had an mad attack and has been misbehaving. Back online properly now. I have a problem, I need to subscribe to put my photo up, but I don't have paypal. Is there another way to make the payment? If not, I will have to set up paypal, which takes a few days, I think. My bank account has to be verified or something...
On the other hand, if I posted it on facebook, could someone pick it up and post it? To save time.
-
Here's another look at the loveliness I received from Hernibs, without the staging. About to be used for my bowl of soup and glass of water. In a house full of men and boys it's great to have something to make me feel special. Xx
-
That's beautiful! Lucky you @Bogwoppit . Love the. Embellishments :) great work @hernibs :thread: :)
-
How exquisite!
Such a different take ... Marvellous stuff, Hernibs! Outstanding first swap!!!
lucky Woppit!

What a fabulous swap, you are awesome and heres the gallery (https://photos.app.goo.gl/2sbfjjHqLxoWhFho7)to prove it!

Like x 100. :D
-
I'm just relieved this wasn't a competition because it would be absolutely impossible to choose a winner.
-
What @sewingj says. What talented people.
-
Just to say, I use my mugrats every day ....
Please do use yours, every time I see them it brings me a lovely warm glow.
-
Oh, I can't! They're too lovely.
I've had mine displayed on my mantlepiece for Autumn/Halloween with my witch ragdoll.
Sandra.

-
I agree with you, @Sandra . Maybe when the children leave home,
if they ever do.
-
My second cup of coffee for the morning is on one of mine as I type and the teapot (which I don't use but others others do) is sitting pretty on the other one.
My coaster from TPCMODDD I am using as a mouse mat in work so I can admire it for 8 hours every day....or in the case of the last few weeks two eights and three tens! That's why I'm on my second cuppa and some migraine tablets! 0_0
As it happens I'm also planning 8 more for my peeps. My geek chic squad, five girls and three boys aged 22-29. One of them is getting some very delicious Alexander Henry Pretty Lady, Day of the Dead tattooy stuff, there'll be some geek specs, handsome half nekid cowboys ;) some petri dish looking things..... I'm having a lovely time. :loveit:
I might just ignore the Man United supporter in case my fingers go on fire! ><
-
@wrenkins handsome half nekid cowboys sound interesting .
Can we have a photo before you gift them. :D
-
Will do @Ellabella assuming I get them
started finished before our fabulous Brownie Points Award Ceremony. 0_0
If you want them to move faster, make it a competition I've discovered! :ninja:
