That looks really interesting, I have knitted a lot of traditional mittens but not gloves.

In case anyone else is interested here is a link to some of the patterns available https://shop.theswi.org.uk/products/swi-sanquhar-gloves-pattern

I have one of the pop up irons and they are brilliant , I bought mine in Watford over 12 years or so ago from a department store that sold off things from different suppliers.  I paid £29 for one and £19 for the other as it had an open box. The second one I bought for a friend.

They are the proper make, different colour  but I don’t think they were ever marketed in this country, the ones I got were probably a trial run.

Vintage Machines / Re: Jones z-690 Foreign

OK calm down @Bill  I am here to the rescue.  Berninas are very greedy machines and do require cleaning and oiling after every garment, some need oiling in the middle of a big garment.

What they don’t need is attacking with a screwdriver  :scream:

So go ahead a nice gentle clean and oil …Bill

I am here but got home too late to really start sewing so just sorting out a few bits ready for Thursday, unfortunately I won’t be home tomorrow to join in as I will be weaving insted.

@Elnnina i used to have that machine and it is a fantastic machine but a bit of a beast to master, do you have the video if not this links to it on YouTube https://youtu.be/xpBTVy14WAw?si=BzxVNLPqR22URljN    I think if you can set it up for cover stitch and don’t need to keep changing it will be fine.

Patterns Discussion / Re: Has anyone tried Spencer Ogg patterns
« on: March 19, 2024, 09:47:17 AM »
I bought the pattern and watched some of the video, in it she mentions a free pattern https://youtu.be/20UIIkFqQLs?si=VqLAgUhIuD9H_u6p.

I have cut out the free one and hopefully will make it up this afternoon, I will also do the one I bought but I think it will not work in the fabric I was thinking of, so need to find something stronger or maybe even leather.

Really like her style of teaching

I am looking to make a small wallet that will take a few credit cards and my massive car key, I want it as small as possible.

I am looking at this one https://www.spencerogg.com/product/starlight-wallet/

Just wondered if anyone had tried any of her patterns, if so are the instructions good? I am a novice when it comes to bags.

Overlockers & Coverstitchers / Re: New overlocker tips

As far as I know all Babylock Overlockers are made in Japan but I could be a bit out of date.

I don’t think mine will count as a scrappy quilt but I had delighted these pieces to the scrap box because I hated the way it greyed. It is also left overs from a cushion I made.

@Ohsewsimple  yes it’s all changed your old Pfaff 7570 was made before two companies joined together.

Husqvarna and Pfaff are the same and are in fact made in the same factories, singer are although owned by the same parent company they are not made the same. In this country Pfaff and Husqvarna are distributed by VSM but singer are not, it is different in other countries.
Husqvarna emeralds are not made by Husqvarna and there are also a few other models across the lower end of both Pfaff and Husqvarna that are made for them.

If you take the covers off of some of the PFAFF  and husqvarna machines they are almost identical, it is just the fancy bits that change.
