Title: My latest shirt
Post by: EdTheMaker on August 21, 2020, 10:37:17 AM
Sorry about the very bad attempt at a catalogue pose... I really like how this one turned out. I would have liked to try pattern matching the placket but couldn't due to a limit on the fabric.

That's great @EdTheMaker   You have pattern matched on the fronts and on the sleeves which is more important than the placket.  On a ladies' shirt a contrast for the placket would be acceptable, but I'm not sure about on a man.

Lovely job. I think it would be fine to have a contrast placket if you wanted to.

Lovely job.  I agree with @Lachica that a contrast would work if you’re short on fabric again.

Another great shirt and great fabric - you're flying now aren't you.
Actually, because you've pattern matched the fronts so well and because the motif on the button band falls half way between the motifs on the fronts it really doesn't shout out at all.

That is really tidy. It's a great fit on you.
I would love to tackle a shirt but I keep chickening out at the thought of all that faddling at the collar. I don't even know what the faddling is...but I know it's there!  :S

Goodish pattern matching on the shirt at the back ... hopeless at the front but what would you expect for £1.65 ???

I do like those big collars from those days and I really miss my baggy bell-bottoms too. Guess one day I'll have to dive in and see if I can make some.

Here they were called Pied d'elephant. I'm not sure that's much of an improvement over the name Bell bottom !

Hi

Well done indeed!!

It doesnt matter that the placket is a bit offset from pattern.
