Every year me and Mum think about going but we always say the problem is you need to go with loads of cash in your pocket and when it rolls around I never seem to have enough  :\ @Jane ?

I'd like to. I say that every year. I used to go and I loved it.  13th/14th Oct? I will

A Good Yarn / Knit and Knatter
« on: September 16, 2018, 17:24:46 PM »
We decided to have a knit and knatter at work one lunchtime last week.  I did 1.5 rows.

I think the knatter beat the knit  0_0

... and then when I picked up the knitting afterwards I noticed that I was one stitch out on my cable pattern...

IMO Knit and Knatter doesn't work!!  :\

@Francesca is there any chance you could insert the attached pictures into the text? Then I can copy and paste your entry into the voting thread. Otherwise I'd have to host the pictures elsewhere and link them.

Hi Manuela

I've done it! (My little tecchy is away so I had to work it out myself!)

:flower: Ok - so here goes. This is Fran and Jane's entry.

The pattern was McCalls M7390 from a recent Love Sewing Magazine. I decided to make B but with sleeves from C.

:pattern:  8) Needed some pattern re-grading to give me more on the hips and the arms (as you do), so Fran did her grading tricks using the big french curve thingy I got her for Christmas moons ago.

:fabric: The fabric came from C&H Fabrics in Tunbridge Wells and it's a cotton with some sort of stretch so it must have elastane in it. (Really helped with the ease for the sleeves!)

:cake:  :snip: We started this with the Royal Wedding in the background, so we had lots of tooing and froing to ooh and ahh at the dresses in between grading and cutting out and pinning, etc.

:S Fran whizzed all the main sections up with her overlocker and I did the neckline and set in the sleeves which took as long as doing all the rest.

So I finished it last night and here is the result!

That yellow shirt drawing looks oddly like my Mum...

Or is it just me?

I'd like to still look like that please!

OOh that's a good idea Brenda! You devil

I'm definately going to do that because if you leave the last sleeve till last - it kinda never gets done!

I've started knitting a jumper! Oh yes I have indeed. It's so cosy knitting especially now the clocks have gone back.

I'm already more than half way up the back which is dead speedy for me.

Hope it looks OK on. If not I'll wear it in the garden. Knowing me I'll get bored by the time I get to the last sleeve. Hate having to do 2 the same!

If my boyfriend lets me have my way (which he will eventually realise he must), I will be opening my fabric and knitting shop in Otford, Kent in 2020  0_0

Ooo can I get a job?  :D

Linen trousers first... to go with the sunflower top "that you are going to make me Fran  :P"

First I need to adjust this trouser pattern that I have that's about 3 inches too short in the rise at the back!!  I've made the toile out of one of your old duvet covers, so it's a bit lairy!

If I can get a good trouser pattern that fits me... there'll be no stopping me. I need more than the 4 pairs of black trousers I wear all the time!

I'm Fran's mum and she's much better at sewing than me! I often get presented with new tops when I see her.  :shirt:

I think I'm tempted to really crack on with some sewing. I've got the Husq Viking #1 out of the cupboard. Not used it for about 5 years .. but as expected... she is purring along...  :sew:
