It's luvverly!! :loveit:
-
That looks lovely and of course the machine has priority over everything else. Doesn't it look different now you have some colour on the walls. Hope you have fun organising where everything is going to go.
-
Beautiful :D
Not jealous at all ... well not much... actually a lot

-
What a beautiful space.
-
@Ploshkin , may it always stay as tidy as it is now.
-
I'm not envious, I'm always this delicate shade of green ;)
Inspired after meeting with @Ploshkin yesterday, I have decided to paint my box-dumping-ground room - haven't chosen colours yet - and have ordered a few bits of furniture to go in there.
-
Ooooh, have fun kitting that out 0_0
-
Oooooh I'm so jealous, look at all that room you've got
-
Lovely, it won't stay like that for long
-
Oh goodness I am also a nice shade of green @Ploshkin . It is fabulous, and so empty with space, space and more space. It has been well worth the wait. Poor little Pfaff looks like he wants some friends to talk to. Absolutely love it :perfect10:
-
Very nice, @Ploshkin
The sewing machine looks a little lonely.
-
Ooh lots of space. Very nice, plenty of room for a coffee maker.
But I think you might have a problem using the machine like that!
-
Is it ensuite??? @Puzzler !!!
-
No, @Iminei but the bathroom is next door. There would be room for an ensuite in one of the cupboards !

You mean the stash cupboard.
-
One cupboard is the size of my sewing space

I told the architect that I wanted cupboards upstairs having lived for 22 years with just one small one. He obliged and there are 5. The 'linen' cupboard in the bathroom was so enormous we made it into a shower cubicle and took the end off the bathroom for a smaller cupboard plus an extra in the sewing room.
DH and I got my Horn cabinet and cutting table upstairs this morning. I now need to refit all the flaps and I'm good to go! I think Fedex are bringing curtain fabric and poles today.
-
That's a beautiful sewing space @Ploshkin , and well worth waiting for! I'm very envious of your cupboard space...
Look forward to seeing it kitted out.

Me too!

My 15 packages from IKEA arrived this morning, only 2 days after I ordered them. I blame @Ploshkin - I think she's earning commission from the Swedes ;)
-
Hmmmph @Flobear I ordered mine last Friday and they're not coming until next Wednesday! What have you got?
-
It looks like a lovely space @Ploshkin

I wasn't expecting it so quickly though having paid narmanaleg for ordinary delivery it seemed only right. It was the adjustable trestles you were flogging recommending that tempted me so I will have a 4ft long cutting table. And I bought a desk with a bank of drawers one end and legs the other which should take two machines. And a swivel chair. The other bits were for the guest room.
-
DH played a blinder. I didn't realise that there is a hidden skill in all the time he spends under lorries and tractors. He is able to reach into impossible spaces at impossible angles and put in screws by feel alone. He voluntarily put all the flaps back on my sewing cabinet and cutting table in a fraction of the time it would have taken me. He also took all my boxes of fabric upstairs ( I don't think he realises that there are 2 big ones on top of the wardrobe ;) ). Fedex brought all my curtain poles but no fabric. I do have one lot for our existing bedroom so I can make a start.
It's actually nice to have some space back downstairs.
-
That's bigger than my bedroom! :faints:
Envious? Moi?
I wish you many happy hours/days/weeks etc in there :)
-
You mean the stash cupboard.
Yes. Let's call it what it really is. Stash cupboard.
-
Im packing my bags .... I only need a small futon at one end of the room ....
-
Looking forward to seeing it furnished! Enjoy!!
-
This room looks fantastic, I cant wait to see more. If I had that space I think I might be tempted by a floor loom , If I put one in my room I wouldn’t get in the door. What size loom are you thinking of getting ????
I love seeing other peoples rooms, think I should have been an estate agent.
-
@Celia my plan from the outset was to have a 24" rigid heddle and I only got my 10" because I got impatient and didn't have any space. I have been eyeing up table looms as well so not sure now.
-
@Ploshkin its only one step from table loom to floor
No seriously I have 2 ridged heddle looms and a table 4 shaft and I like them all, my 4 shaft table is an Erica by Louet which I love but I think I might really love a larger Jane by Louet. The movement’s involved in the rigid heddle and table looms are quite different and worth thinking about. If I had room …………
-
@Celia I need to do a bit more weaving! I very much like the textured weaves that you can do on a rigid heddle. I'm less interested in coloured patterns and need to learn more about what a shaft loom will do.
-
Gosh Plosh that's wonderful!
You could hold sewing groups/retreats in there, is the TSP bus available this weekend? anyone know? I can be ready at short notice! :P
:perfect10: and then some :loveit:
-
The TSP Charabanc will be calling at all ports from Kenora upwards ... book your seat ... All Aboard the Skylark!

Gosh, it's 6 weeks since I took that first picture. My sewing room has been kitted out and in use for about 3 weeks now but I wanted to wait until I had done the curtains before I took any pictures. It is a complete indulgence but I love, love, love it. It's a gorgeous, bright room and I hadn't realised that being higher up would amplify the sound of the river - so a lovely peaceful accompaniment to sewing. It has windows on 3 sides so I've got a good view all over the yard and can see and hear arrivals. I'm pleased with my choice of lights (3 clusters of 3 LED spots) which give a great, almost shadowless light. A great bonus I've found is that with all the space I don't lose anything because things don't end up on top of each other. I'm just on my last pair of curtains (the 8th) and I'm looking forward to making something that isn't a curtain. It has been just brilliant having my Horn cutting table out without having to move furniture and I can move it around and get all round it. It's had more use in the last 3 weeks than in the 10 years since I bought it. I haven't kitted out the second cupboard yet but will probably put in a shelf unit like the bigger one. There will be a bigger loom appearing before too long.
Here it is:

What an excellent room to work in, no wonder you love it so much. Enjoy it.
-
That is lovely can’t wait to see the new loom, I am into making kitchen towels at the moment, do you know which loom you are going for?
-
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much space, :faints: not that Im envious at all !
-
Beautiful, light and spacious. Much envy here!
BB
-
Love it, still very tidy though, must be all those cupboards. Enjoy.
-
Wow, Plosh, that is a superb room (looks as big as some of the USA ones that we drool over).
Plus windows over the estate and the sound of the river.
Jealous? Moi? You bet I am, but you deserve it.
-
Now that is what I call a sewing room, absolutely beautiful and so well thought out - if only we could all have a room like that. I an so envious of you being able to have your cutting out table up and in place all the time if you want to, also the ironing board. I have to move my cutting out table to a space where I can actually open it up and actually use this, but first I have to clear the fabric stored on the top and empty the cupboards to lighten it so I can move it by myself - my husband helped once and yanked at one of the flaps and then forced it down when the supporting door wasn't back flush with the cupboard resulting in a buckled hinge which made a bump in the top cutting out surface. We had quite a job changing over to a new hinge as over the years Horn have changed these hinges, but all is well now and I find it better and less chance to move it by myself. Now just enjoy all the time you are going to spend in your lovely room.
-
Oh all that natural light, enjoy!
-
Oh that's just lovely!
Enjoy sewing in there :-)
-
It's wonderful @Ploshkin so much s p a c e There will be no excuses now. Enjoy!
-
@Celia I'm going to get a 24" rigid heddle - probably another Ashford. I'm still keen on a table loom but I think I need to get a bit of weaving under my belt to know whether or not I really need / want one.
-
Absolutely fabulous @Ploshkin and better still a long seat to have a snooze on. So much room though and nothing cramped for room to manoeuvre.
I think you could say it has been all worth it. <3
-
I'm so envious of you @Ploshkin! It's wonderful.
-
@Ploshkin yes I think you can learn a lot on the RHL and Ashford is a good make, if you don’t mind paying a bit more through do look at the Schacht https://www.weftblown.com/collections/schacht-rigid-heddle-looms/products/flip-rigid-heddle-loom?variant=39325707783 they are easier to use especially if you want to do a long length and they are very strongly built.
They are quite a bit more money but if you really know what size etc it’s worth it, I had problems with my Ashford but I didn’t have a stand and the position I used it in caused me problems with my stomach muscles.
Looking forward to seeing what you do.
-
Oh wow what a fabulous space and set up.
-
Looks beautiful. Can't wait to come and drool on all your stuff
-
Oh... my... goodness... :o :loveit:
Just think of me in my little 7 foot square room...
-
I want one. :boohoo:
-
@Ploshkin
As if the room on its own wasn’t perfect enough, you then had to mention the river flowing nearby.
Mega envy… :faints:
Happy sewing! :sew:
-
Ooooh that's so fabulous :perfect10:. I so envy you especially as I can barely get in mine at the moment.
-
I think it's unanimous. We'll be needing a photo out the window to this river.
No one here is jealous. No one at all. :perfect10:
-
Wow what a beautiful room, you are so lucky and yes I’m very jealous. Enjoy
-
What a beautiful room. Love all the windows and am envious you can hear water flowing outside.
Enjoy your time sewing in your room.
-
What a fabulous room - and so tidy!!! As a really really creative person ( :P) all my surfaces bear witness to my ongoing projects (OK, I'll admit it, I'm just a messy madam and don't tidy up after myself!!)

Ah, @realale I haven't started using it in earnest yet. I've only been making curtains until today. It will soon look 'lived in' and you haven't seen the inside of the smaller cupboard :)
-
I am beyond envious :loveit: Lucky you - enjoy
-
That is such a glorious room @Ploshkin ! I love the idea of views on 3 sides.
I'm sure your output will be greatly increased!
