I've cut out this fitted dress in Saxe blue ponte roma with long sleeves and maybe attaching a lace collar. [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I like anything that slims. I like that collar as well, very effective @Silver Rose
-
Ooh I do like the collars. Prefer the second (solid) one but they're both nice & work well on that blue.
-
Although I wear scarves with dresses I though a pretty collar would be a change.
-
They are both lovely @Silver Rose and really suit the dress.
-
Prefer the white one. Just lifts the dress a bit.
-
I prefer the broderie one - lifts the colour a bit more, but both are lovely!
-
Both look really good.
-
Looks great, I like both collars :loveit:
-
Thanks everyone, the pics of the collars are not shown on my blue ponte. When the collars come in the post I'll put a pic up of them with my fabric. I like the larger one, the Peter Pan collars remind me of my school summer uniform checked dress with white collar and cuffs :S
-
@Silver Rose - maybe consider which collar color is more flattering near your face. Both are beautiful.
-
I personally prefer the white one, but you could always make them as removable collars and change it up as you feel when you wear it. Widens your options!
-
Haven't done any sewing yet, waiting for thread which came today.
The collars arrived in the post this morning, here they are on the blue ponte.

Got on fairly well this morning, a whole three hours in the sewing room (aka the dining table). All put away now, lunch eaten and after the washing up is done I'll go for my walk.

Pretty Blue - In the picture with all 3 collars they all are fine with this fabric but I find the top collar the best.

@Silver Rose The top collar option gets my vote
-
Still like the top one. Looks a bit more modern.
-
Yes I like the top one , the one in the centre would be nice in a V neck dress or top. I am still not sure whether I will put a collar on.
What I didn't realise was that none of the collars go all round the neckline, they are only for the front :[ Anyway the dress is coming together nicely, the ponte is a good weight and not too clingy to my flabby bits :|

The top one for me

I did a bit more yesterday, I have made a small change to the pattern by doubling the width of the waistband to give a slightly dropped waist effect. I saw that a poster on Pattern Review had done the same. The waistband is not very noticeable on the full skirted floral version but using a plain colour it is. I hope to get the side seams tacked today and ask my friend to check the fit for me. It looks good on Mimi my mannequin.

I love the Art Deco style of the most solid one.
-
I have pinned the larger collar onto the dress and I quite like it, getting confused now.
What would be the best way of having detachable collars?

Edit: looks too much like a housemaid's dress :S

Haven't done much lately but the sleeves are tacked ready to sew and then the hems so I'll try to finish it today.
-
I like your idea of any of the collars against that beautiful blue @Silver Rose . I look forward to seeing what you decide on.

Sleeves are in and hems are pinned up and I made a slip cover for my new tablet.
-
Just catching up with this thread. All the collars are fabulous! I bought some collates from a charity shop - I must use them. As you have demonstrated they are really eye-catching on a plain coloured dress.
-
I must finish the hem today, I don't enjoy hand sewing, my hands are too stiff.
-
Agree with @William, I like the top collar the best also.
-
I finished the dress but haven't worn it yet with or without a collar.
