I'm making a gilet from tweed with a pre quilted lining.
I can't make up my mind which zip to use. Zip will be exposed. The grey is darker than the fabric but it is the one that I have. The lining fabric is deep maroon, quilted with stars and I have used that colout for top stitching though it only really shows close up on the tweed.
The inside of the collar will be of the quilted fabric so will be exposed unless the zip is fully closed.
Which zip would you go for?

My vote is for maroon, gilet is very nice BTW.

Grey.

I'm not very good at making sartorial choices for other people but I would say that if the zip is visible and if the lining is maroon then the maroon one looks more like a design choice.
Your gilet looks lovely and would probably work well with either zip.

I'm gonna be boring and say grey because it matches the outer fabric.
-
Maroon. It might just be the photo, but the grey doesn't look like a close enough match. Gilet is lovely.

I prefer the maroon one. :)

I prefer the maroon one.

I can see why it's a hard decision and I was slightly indecisive myself but I lean towards the maroon. The contrast is nice and it looks more like a design choice while the gray seems more of a compromise.
Also, the maroon blends in more with the gilet. The gray almost clashes or competes with it.

Maroon from me as well, I like the gilet and the lining.
-
Maroon for me also :)

To me they are two different looks. One is more contrast than the other so you need to decide whether you want to have a contrast look or go more blended.
I'll go against everyone else & say 'grey's. :D

When you are wearing it, will the gilet be open, zipped or partly zipped? Are you planning to wear it only with black/grey and possibly maroon?
I know I would wear something like that probably partly zipped showing a bit of the lining up round the neck and I'd have black or grey bottoms but a more colourful shirt/jumper in the pink/red/marron family.
If you want to wear with another colour, then maybe the grey is the best.

Maroon. Definitely.
Love the seamwork on the front, by the way.

I know nothing but Maroon for me

I guess I am way too conservative - I'd go with grey - gives you more flexibility about what you wear under it -- including as yet to be considered garments.
That being said, the maroon is lovely.
