Today... One thread per day / Re: Thursday 2nd December
« on: December 02, 2021, 09:04:36 AM »
Wrong day? That'll teach you lot to get up unreasonably early  :)

Sunny and cold. I'm going to Doughty's this morning  :loveit: for chair covering fabric. I promised S it won't be a long peruse in there. I can't justify any P&Q stuff* as I have so many curtains to make atm. The reason for the chair fabric is that now the first two curtains are up, the chair seats look even more disgraceful.

Have good days tootlemond.

*But who knows what will happen when I'm surrounded by such bounty  ;)

A Good Yarn / Re: WINTER SOCK KNIT ALONG

I often knit little snowmen at this time of year as Christmas decorations. The charity I volunteered with in Dorset used to sell them in their shop. Also mini striped 'stockings' that were just the right size for two mini Green and Blacks choccies.

I've finally started on a Hearthside slipper - haven't got far, it's taking a bit of concentration. I just hope they're going to come out the right size!

I haven't properly started my Hearthside slippers yet. What with the delay getting the third colour then three goes at doing the tension square then my Dorset sister asking if I had had a chance to work out the pattern for the 'apple cosy' I've got a bit behind. Oh, and curtain-making.

Your Favourite Suppliers / Re: Recommended online fabric shops

I don't know how many have come across The Millshop Online.

I've been searching for curtain fabrics for most of my windows and found something I really liked in, I think, Just Fabrics. £12.95 a metre wasn't too bad a price but I kept searching other sites for other fabrics. Then the one first wanted was in The Millshop Online for £9.95 per m. Since I wanted 12m that was a decent saving. The fabric arrived quickly and was well-packaged. I have now ordered from them again. P&P is £8.95 though free over £125. Samples are free. They also do upholstery fabric.

Here's a closer-up pic of my hat without me in it  ;)

I used left-over wool from the pulli and found a pattern to adapt that worked with the jumper. Hat was a little bit big so I used red sock wool to knit a band for the inside and an extra layer for the earflaps - which makes them nice and cosy.

I will post it back, pronto, @Iminei . You said hang on to it for a bit while I was planning my sewing room but I think it's as planned as it's going to be now.

Thank you @Iminei . I was really worried that the centre bit might not be suitable - although I like it  :)

Hi, I'm new... / Re: Hello Everyone

Welcome @Ian .

I came here to get help with my overlocker and got enticed into the abyss Dark Side - there are definitely connotations of mysterious goings on when you get started on P&Q (patcwork and quilting) although the pressing thing makes very good sense.

You will find lots of help and enthusiam here.
