I went to a WI meeting about climate change along with that and a comment by Patric Grant i am looking at what we have left when we sew garments. Apparently home sewers waste about 30% of all the fabric we buy.

My problem is I use a lot of stretch fabrics, at the moment i have 2 lots of left over scraps i am about to bin but have stopped myself and am going to make something from them.  Would anyone join in?

Could we set up a thread for something like this?

Let me know what you think?

In the wardrobe / Remake from Primark hoodie
« on: September 27, 2021, 10:12:33 AM »
Yesterday i was sorting out more clothes and found a nearly new hoodie in a lovely shade of red, I don’t wear it because it has the most horrible zip, heavy metal and stiff.

I was about to throw it out when I remembered i had had trouble trying to but some cheap sweatshirts in bright colours that are long enough, so I have unpicked the zip and tacked the front together, now i just have to decide if I am going to take the hood off. Hopefully photos will follow

Has anyone else good hacks for ready made items

I mentioned last month that it might be nice to do a Sock knit along this month so if anyone is interested shall we start, I was thinking of starting next week.

I am not thinking of any hard and fast rules but I will post some notes and links on Monday for anyone who needs any help or inspiration.  In the meantime maybe you would like to look out some sock wool there are loads of different types out there and of course you can use thicker yarn if you want heavier socks.

Hope to see you here soon, if you have any question or suggestions please let me know.

In the wardrobe / First make with new Janome machine
« on: September 02, 2021, 14:32:30 PM »
I wanted to make something quick and also something I could cut out Ona very small table so here is the result, boxer shorts for my son.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I am not buying a new machine, repeat after me, I am not buying a new machine.

I did say i would buy myself a machine just because I wanted it when I retired, I do have 3 lovely machines but I am wondering if it would be a good idea to try to combine at least 2 and also to buy a machine for fun not work.

I would love to have this one but look at the price  I wondered if the 6700 would perhaps make a good alternative.

Now off to hide in the corner @Lowena   at least I could have less machines

In the wardrobe / New Jalie Patterns
« on: August 12, 2021, 09:22:42 AM »
Have you seen these
I have used several of their top patterns and find them really good, they also work well as block style patterns I have often adapted them to make dresses etc. I have only tried 1 pants pattern and that didn’t work too well for me, Style Arc pants fit better for me.

I haven’t really looked at the new ones yet  but I will when I get back from Ma in laws. as if I need more patterns???

A Good Yarn / Hand knitted Fair Isle hats

Here is my latest  hat this one is knitted in Jamieson and smiths Shetland, it is surprising the difference in the feel between this one and the last one which was knitted in Jamiesons Shetland.

A Good Yarn / What I have been up to
« on: June 03, 2021, 16:47:26 PM »
Here it is finished but not quiet dry, now off to make another one from this years free Shetland week pattern but I have to  order more wool  don’t I?

This is one of the modern grey electric  linkers will add pictures  if anyone is interested £175.00 again this would not be possible to post as it is quite heavy but also very awkward shape to pack.

I have a brand new never used knitting machine, I have kept it on the original box for years in case I might need it………now is the time to let it go if anyone is interested I would like £250.00 for it. I do have a brother 850 ribber that will fit it, this is second hand but if anyone wants it I will sell it for £125.00.
Unfortunately due to its size and weight I am not willing to send this so it would have to be collected from me. If you have any questions please ask.

In the wardrobe / Home wear for summer
« on: March 24, 2021, 11:28:11 AM »
I want to make something to wear instead of summer leggings, they are getting thinner and thinner. 2 years ago when life was normal I made trousers and t shirts of the same material which I love, I used a Style Arc pattern, I think it was Linda  they are great BUT

Now I spend my life crawling round the floor or climbing into attic’s, cleaning or sorting stuff, often with a lovely cats help????  I need something that won’t flap around my legs and attract said cats attention or get caught on the steps of the ladder and try to kill me   both have happened.

Any suggestions ?

Don’t really know what these are, if anyone wants them £10.00 posted. I do not have a machine they will work with

For Sale, Wanted & Free to a good home / Accuquilt dies
« on: January 27, 2021, 17:05:35 PM »
I am selling a collection of dies for the accuquilt, the 2 companion sets have not been opened and the 6 inch block set has been opened but not used. Now the problem is they are heavy, I mean really heavy, if anyone is interested I will try to find the best way to post at the best price.
I would like to sell them all together for. £200.00 if you look them up here
You will see they are £480.00 to buy.  I will split them if anyone want one of the companion sets but I wont sell the Mix and match set on its own.

If you need anymore info please let me know.
