That is so nice Stitches.  Nice to see some of the Surefit designs.

Love that colour!

Just checked Low, and both links seem to be working.  The second one, which I've just had a quick look at, has a lovely chenille quilt in blue, which looks soooo nice.

Makes me want to have a go....  ;)

OK.  Had a good ole rootle, and it turns out I got two quilts mixed up in my head.

First up is the QAYG tutorial : http://flutterkat.com/2012/01/my-quilt-as-you-go-process-tutorial-of/

The second is this little beauty, with the machine stitch quilting: http://mamaspark.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/my-charity-quilts.html

Tis on my telephone Im, but I'll have a look.  Does Pinterest automatically update to my PC?

I will look, it was gorgeous, and the lady made the quilts for charity.

Wonder if your niece (?) will get her money back?  ><

Brenda, I'm no quilter, but I was looking on Pinterest last night at qayg non-sashed quilts, and one quilt came up, which just had a sort of ric rac machine stitch in straight lines, and it was stunning, it went over the bulkier seams beautifully.

I'll look, but not sure I could find it again....

Jessie

eta, your quilt is lovely

Brenda, wrap dresses are not usually for me - I hate the idea of being gapey.  But, this is the second I've made lately, and I love both.

I have no idea why I took against them, but I'm definitely having a re-think now!  ;)

Patterns Discussion / Burda 6764

This is a pattern I bought from my local fabric store, reduced to £1 each, I bought three really useful patterns.

Very quick make, even I couldn't make a meal out of this!  I'm very pleased with it, considering that it was a first (there will be more!). The main problem was the cheap fabric, it was curling like mad, just took a bit of patience.

Only three pieces, and the only thing to be careful of is the order of making up, just so that you get a nice even finish on the top stitching.  This I did on the sewing machine, with the twin needle, instead of saddling up the coverstitch.

If you like things a bit more modest, that would be easily done.

In my mind, I'm looking longingly at a stretch lace version....

Patterns Discussion / Re: Lekala pattern for trousers
« on: July 19, 2017, 12:31:19 PM »
Bodge I hate doing trousers because of all the faffing around with fit.

I've got a Burda trouser pattern to make up, and I want to do it straight from the packet.  How realistic is it to want to do this?  If I go to a store and buy a pair of trousers, nobody offers to alter the fit, and I wear them as they are ....

It's as if we set ourselves up to fail :(

Sewing Machines / Re: Fellow Pfaff owners.
« on: July 18, 2017, 09:29:49 AM »
I have an older Pfaff machine 1475cd, and it does do reasonable buttonholes, and I think they start at the top.

I haven't used the buttonhole facility for ages though, since I re-discovered the lovely buttonholes made by the vintage Singers (of which I have a few  :|).

I particularly like the buttonholes made by the Slant shank 611g, their buttonholers have templates, which make them very simple to use.  I've just done 6 buttonholes before work .... :)

That's exactly what these are Veg.

I'm sure you could get some of the cover info off t'internet, but the instructions and patterns are all there, and intact.

I'll try to find out if any local schools/colleges still have Textile Departments.
