I saw this & I thought you may be interested! / Re: Millerain waxed cotton

I keep looking at the Kelly (as mentioned else were) but seems expensive for what it is. There are a couple of very similar patterns on the Lekala site and Pennine Outdoors have there own  pattern which is only £3
http://www.pennineoutdoor.co.uk/patterns/Adult-Jacket-and-Coat-Patterns/pat-27-pennine-jacket
I was also considering Vogue 9230 but take the gathers out and line it or Kwik sew 4015, then again I have a vintage Vogue jacket that is very nice  -< -< At this rate it will be next winter before I make my mind up.

Back in the early eBay days when it was primarily an auction site I once sold an OOP Folkwear pattern for over $100/£72.  I was shocked someone would pay that much for it.

I have, in the past given or sold dirt cheap my Issy miyake patterns (you may have bought one from me) thinking I would never use them again and now I see the same patterns going for £50+ on eBay. How I regret getting rid of them.

Fabric arrived today. It is very red. Nice quality but a little stiffer than I was expecting so will rethink the style of jacket I had in mind.

Patterns Discussion / How much do you pay for patterns
« on: February 14, 2018, 17:50:02 PM »
After reading How Much started by Efemera I thought I would follow that by asking "what is the most you have every paid for a pattern?"
Before the days of 'tinternet when the only way you could get Vogue patterns was to order them from the sewing shop (and then wait 3 weeks for delivery) I would regularly pay £15, but remember this was 30 years ago so it was a lot of money. Considering Vogue are still roughly the same amount now you could look upon it that are a bargain. These days I wait for the half price sales.
I suppose my dearest patterns are the Grainline ones, they never seem to be reduced, and these are £15 + pp

it is a nice dress though. I must admit I keep looking at this  https://www.minervacrafts.com/shop/sewing/patterns/ccfp09-closet-case-files-ladies-sewing-pattern-kelly-anorak-coat-jacket but at £22 + another £8 if you want the lining pattern I will just keep looking.

oops, my mistake. I was trying to line up the facings and that is why the collar was all to cock. Photo 1
The stitch line of the facings are not supposed to meet, photo 2, but this looked odd when I fathomed it out so decided to make a feature of the stitch line. (you will see were I started to daydream).Plus the sleeves were rather baggy so I have put some tucks in to give them a bit of shape.
Can you see my deliberate mistake?

Has anyone made this. https://www.sewdirect.com/acatalog/Vogue-V9153.html
I have done version A today but just not happy with the collar, there just seems too much fabric for it to sit right and if you overlap the stand in line with the front facing the collar is far too bulky.
So the stitch unpick will be out tomorrow I will re design the collar and stand. Will post pics later, camera battery flat.

Do you have ab Ikea near you? you can do all sorts of wonderful things with their shopping bags and they are only 50p
http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/smart-home-appliances/tools-fittings/frakta-carrier-bag-large-blue-art-17228340/
Or is there any building going on near you. The jumbo bags that sand etc. comes in are mainly non returnable so end up on landfills, again really strong stuff that you could make use of.
