Congratulations on the weight loss; that's amazing. Am still thinking about the jeans sew a long myself; I have pattern, fabric etc but just the inclination now that's missing. Good luck! You'll get lots of help here xx

It's a lovely thread, isn't it, @Lemon Syllabub ? I'm enjoying seeing all the photos.

My favourite make last year was a Clothkits padded jacket for my little grandson. It took me ages, mainly because it was quilted (! scary!) and I wanted to get it perfect. Unfortunately I didn't take any photos of it

it was really sweet when it was done - it has farmyard animals on the fabric and lots of little pockets into which you popped a stuffed animal or tractor etc.

My son's partner made all the right noises when she unwrapped it last Christmas but I've never seen it on my little grandson

I'm a lightweight, have only three machines at the moment

but am a garment sewer only. I live happily in my sewing room surrounded by fabrics, scraps, thread and mess

I have used viscose twill for a pair (or two) of Eve trousers from Merchant & Mills (the twill came from there also). It's beautiful stuff; very drapey and soft - I don't think it would work for formal trousers.

Culottes would be lovely in it - I assume your pattern is for a wide legged-ish pair?
