No apologies needed, Iminei. It's obviously something "technical" going a bit adrift. :S

A Good Yarn / Re: Knitted blanket finally done

I have three crocheted blankets I need to block - do you think it would work if I thought very, very hard? (I hate blocking  :S)

I am one of the members who joined in later in the year (and thoroughly enjoyed it). I haven't been able to sew for a few weeks, partly because of Christmas and partly, like Maliw's aunt, because we've been trying to arrange for my Mum to go into care. I would do my best to join in regularly but couldn't guarantee it every month.

I also appreciate how much work is involved in organising the monthly BOM so know that it would be a huge commitment of time for Iminei, so a big thank you if it goes ahead.

I think that's a great idea, Francesca. I had exactly the same problem when I applied to join back in July. I got the original automated (presumably) response but then .... nothing. I checked my spam folders ... nothing. I emailed admin and also Iminei several times to see if it made any difference, but no. I also tried logging in but was told my user name didn't exist. Then eventually I tried re-applying a few months later and was accepted within 3 hours.

It was definitely worth persevering though.  :D

Edited to add: Hi Mudcat - glad you persevered too. Nice to see you.  :)

Vintage Machines / Re: Tell me I don't need . . .
« on: December 28, 2017, 00:05:49 AM »
Are you still being strong I wonder?  :)

The auction finishes in 9 hours, and there are no bids so far. The fact that I've done nothing about it indicates to me that I'm not totally convinced I need (want) it. It's really pretty, and in a cabinet, but I really don't have anywhere to put it.  :(  If I saw it in a shop I would buy it on impulse, but it's much easier to resist when it's online and an unknown quantity.  :S

Vintage Machines / Re: Would it be really naughty of me...

I would buy them both - with the second one being as an investment. As long as you offer a fair price for them you needn't feel guilty. After all, if you were selling a machine you'd inherited you'd do your research on what it was worth first, wouldn't you?  8)

Very pleased to meet you Queeniegoth2. I lurked on TSF for a long time but just as I'd decided to join - it disappeared. Now I'm really enjoying being part of TSP.  :)

I watched the Gourmet Quilter video a long time ago and thought it was a brilliant idea. I've never used it but still have it in my "to try" list. :)

I have a similar dilemma. I'm trying to tell myself I don't need/want a beautiful Sphinx decal 15k which has come up locally. I have no room for it either. The auction finishes on Thursday so I need to be strong until then!  :S

eta: I've looked at lots of YouTube videos and the 15k's seem to be slightly "clunky" so I'm clinging to that as I like my machines to be really quiet.

A Good Yarn / Re: Knitted blanket finally done
« on: December 25, 2017, 22:02:37 PM »
It's beautiful, LeilaMay - the closest thing to patchwork I've ever seen in knitting. You certainly have a lot of patience, even if it's taken you two years to finish. Well done - it's lovely.

Lovely work, Ploshkin - it's great to see all the blocks for the year together. I'd love to try some of them next year.

In the wardrobe / Re: Coat sewing

Somebody else on here was going to make that coat, but I'm sorry I can't remember who it was! Perhaps they'll see this post and join in.

Hi Ruthie - nice to see another new face on here. I see you do some charity sewing - I do a lot myself. What kind of things do you sew?
