In the wardrobe / Re: From Tessuti’s Bella dress to Vogue 9237

I notice the Tessuti pattern has no dart. Any issues with that?

It took a while to choose and I'm sure if I did it fresh tomorrow I'd pick a different four.  Really excellent job everyone and so much creativity.

Patterns Discussion / Re: Merchant and Mills Top 64

I bought the Merchants & Mills pattern book last year I think or maybe the year before.  Haven't made anything from it yet.  I like the Trapeze dress too and someone on PR just made this Gyo top that I rather like.

I love the fabric in your top.  The top is cute.

Probably the oldest thing that I still use in the winter is a KW 2029 Robe made from terry cloth in 2003.  The print is of coffee beans and various coffee related words.  I still have the pattern and was thinking of making one in silk for the summer but have yet to get to it.

Outside of that I have SF Giant baseball logo'd t-shirts from the 90s that I haven't worn in years but keep them for nostalgic reasons.  I also have a bunch of printed 3/4 sleeve Glima tops that I bought 10-12 years ago.  At the time they were made in California but no longer are because their printer closed.  I used to wear these and then quit after gaining a few pounds.  This winter I brought them all out and wore them again.

I initially thought the Tilton one would work for Arizona summers but the bust area looks pretty bad so I'm skeptical how well it would work without a lot of modifications.

I have some old t-shirts from the 90s but they aren't in regular use or really any use at all.  I don't know why I still have them. Probably nostalgia.  They are from Spring Training games logo'd with my favorite baseball team (SF Giants).

I also have a bunch of fancy Glima 3/4 sleeve t-shirts from about 10-12 years ago that I had stopped wearing but actually rotated through them each 2-3 times this winter.

Probably the oldest thing is a terry cloth robe I made in 2003.  I wear it regularly in the winter when it's cooler.  It got a long rip in it a couple of years ago and I was going to replace it but in the end I did a little darning so it's still in use.

I also have some scarves that are 20-30 years old but again not really in use.  I keep thinking I'm going to try to incorporate scarves more into my wardrobe but never quite get around to it.

Vogue Summer 2020

They seem to be de-emphasing the Designer patterns.  Nothing here for me.  And the prices are ridiculous.

I think they look fabulous together. Love the floral print.

Thanks Rene.  You lead me to a search for lace dusters.  I think that might work with a sleeveless dress from the chiffon.  It would also lessen the yellow from my face.

I bought these at EOS back in  2018 on a  whim because I saw the lace was a cotton blend and the silk chiffon was one of the swatches on the side bar that EOS so kindly includes as a possible pairing.  I have 1.5 yards of the lace and 2 yards of the chiffon.

yellow lace (cotton/rayon/nylon)
silk chiffon dots (black/yellow)

Not really sure what I'll make with this.  Normally yellow isn't a color that works with my skin tone but because it's more of a mustard tone in person and it will be paired with black I thought I could get away with it.

I really like the original brown dress Manuela put in the first post of this thread (minus the pockets).  I also pretty much only do sleeveless.  What would you all do with this combo?

I'm completely in awe of this.  I have no patience for this sort of thing.  Fantastic job and I love your fabric choice. When going through my quilting cotton stash it seems like 1/3 of it is cat prints.

It's bad enough when you look up a pattern number and there are two completely different garments because they ran out of four digit numbers and started reusing them.

This is absurd.

Your cape is gorgeous.

I love capes in wool but I live in a warm/hot climate so my opportunity for wearing them is quite limited.

I like it. Nice.  I have this pattern too but have yet to make it.  If I ever do I can see myself rounding the neck as well.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone.  Strangely after playing with the machine for a bit the tightness went away.  I'm not sure what caused it but everything is working fine now. I have read online of various problems people have with this machine but so far the quality of the stitches have been great and I've encountered no other issues.

I love this machine and am sorry I didn't buy it years ago since I mostly sew knits.  I tried it on wovens too and it was fine.
