Hi, I'm new... / Re: Boom
« on: September 30, 2023, 15:35:37 PM »
I had a Sindy doll, my little sister a "Penny Bright". I thought that she was Sindy's little sister? Wasn't Pippa some 'relation' to Barbie?
Ah yes, you are right. I had Sindy but remember a Pippa being around and wanting it, even if I didn't get it

Hello and welcome from me too.
Was Pippa Sindy's little sister?

Sewalongs and Competitions / Re: TSP's Official Stashbusting Thread for 2023

Well done @Ann  :D
I do know my stash has reduced as I have two empty boxes but I forgot to write down what I used and what for.  A lot was playing with GS1 and corsets but for the life of me I have no idea how much!

Still adorable  :loveit: I spent forever looking for a decent dino pattern either last year or the year before! Dino's are no longer in with my GS's, they have been taken over by vikings and Minecraft! I don't fancy making toy ones of either of those.

I measured DD1 for her Halloween outfit.  Spent most of the afternoon scrubbing away at my oven so didn't manage anything sewing wise.

Fun with Fabric / Re: Online fabric store pet hates.
« on: September 27, 2023, 18:17:27 PM »
And is it worth the money?
So many times I have ordered something only for the fabric to "feel" cheap and nasty!
Only last week I visited my favourite only local shop and was talking to the lovely lady who owns it, she said the shop was "disappointing" because it didn't have spare cutters for my eyelet punch.
I told her off and said she stocks nearly everything I ever need (plus those impulse buys) but that the best thing is being able to feel the fabric or see how big a pattern is on the fabric, or even how it is printed!
After you take postage into account the bricks and mortar shop is good value for money as you do not waste so much on the badly taken photos

@Surest1tch I have bought the overlocker cones on two different occasions and never had any issues with them, in fact I am going to go and see if I can get some more as my black has run out.  I first bought it about 10 years ago, maybe you did have a bad batch or it just suits some overlocker and not others?

Patterns Discussion / Re: Burda patterns
« on: September 25, 2023, 14:09:35 PM »
I have a few Burda patterns that span over the last 15 years and many, but not all, come in the plastic bag.  I think it is being phased out due to environmental awareness as I haven't had one like that for the last couple of years.

In the wardrobe / Re: Black skirt with narrow animal print panel
« on: September 25, 2023, 10:18:23 AM »
It is a rare day I do not wear black somewhere or other and I feel weird not wearing it!
I look really drained in pastel colours and never wear them but have a love of pink and lilac so wear them below the waist as @realale suggested.
At the end of the day there is a point where you might as well wear what you want as you will miss the boat otherwise and wonder why you didn't

Spent the afternoon down at the Big C charity craft warehouse  :D
Got binding and a couple of bits of fabric, some trims and the usual stuff that I didn't know I needed until I realised I did like the shirring elastic after I used up the last lot doing the catastrophic shirring on stretchy stuff  :embarrassed: Spent all of £11 and had a lovely afternoon  :perfect10:

The Haberdashery / Re: Bench ruler.
« on: September 13, 2023, 14:58:29 PM »
I might have been and got two set square rulers from there the other day just after I had been complaining about not having a yard rule or anything similar. They do have a selection of different rules in my local so worth a look.
