Sewalongs and Competitions / Re: Weekly Sewing Club Wednesdays 2-4pm

I have done a bit of a tidy upstairs.  I must have used quite a bit of stash as I now have an empty box, and no one can every accuse me of not replenishing used stock  I did buy a few fabric bits in the PACT shop today, some pink taffeta, cream duchess satin and pretty pink ballet dancer all for £8, (enough for a couple of corsets) and they are now in the washing machine.
I will use the extra space to store a cat or two that will not get out and keep playing in it smaller bits of fabric that can be used so I do not have to keep looking through all the boxes to find them!
I also have all my bias binding together now instead of swimming around in the drawer with the zips and other bits and bobs.
I think I impressed OH as he might even have used the word "organising"  :o

@Morgan My "oooh" was so loud OH asked what I was so excited about  I think I may be booking me one or two of those  :D
Thank you for the info, I would never have looked as it felt a bit like self flatulating looking at the website info  :perfect10:

I would have loved to go but I ain't going to London for it.  ><
Norfolk is a dead end for most things.  With a husband that won't go further than Norwich I am restricted to that and there is rarely anything there, mostly child orientated during school holidays.  There aren't even adult education things where I live, the nearest is about 10 miles away.  To get to London on the train I would need to drive to the nearest train station which is 10 miles, get a train to Norwich or Cambridge and then a train to London.  You still need to get to your destination from there!

Oh I would have loved to go to this  :boohoo:
Sadly it will not happen so I will just carry on looking at stuff on the internet and hoping that one day I will be able to do something more than an hour away from home!

In this instance a tiny dab of fabric glue can really help. Less messy than a 'speared' finger end  :o  :x
In this instance I realise what an idiot I can be at times

@Ohsewsimple In the instance today clips wouldn't work.  I was trying to sew straps and buckles onto an arm bracer so there was nowhere for clips to go. I ended up just holding it in place while sewing with my very nervous finger near the needle  :o

I use clover silk pins when I need a fine pin but I'm struggling along with an old set of plastic headed pins from Hobbycraft when I need something sturdier because I 've yet to find a replacement thst I like. They've ended up too thick or too long or not smooth enough.
It's the sturdy factor I am trying to find!
Trying to shove a pin through eight layers of fabric yesterday for Grandson was a headache, he was laughing at them all bending and they were the new ones.  Once I delved deeper into the old ones they were going through ok.
@BrendaP  and @Kad  I will have a look at the ones you mention, hopefully I will find some with oomph readily attached!

I have always bought Prym and the ones from a few years ago are much better quality than now.
The penultimate ones were blunt, the glass pin head fell off or had snags in them.  Bought some more the other day and they are just bending when I try pushing them through more than two layers of fabric.
Does anyone recommend any other make that are a bit more sturdy?

I spent a good few hours cleaning the floor of the "sewing room", putting everything away and returning it to "spare bedroom" ready for the grandsons tomorrow night.  What a palaver!  There was carpet in there when we moved in and it stays there until we win the lottery but it does mean each time the boys are sleeping I have to get on hands and knees to check there are no pins or needles down there

I have avoided using Amazon for years as they failed time after time to deliver to us. They kept delivering to the same, wrong address even though we told them repeatedly what their error was. The final straw was the £200 kindle they failed to deliver and then argued that it was delivered to the correct address. It took us months to get the money back!
I always check who is doing delivery for a company before ordering. Royal Mail is the most reliable if not quickest.
Ordered from Plush addict today so hopefully will get that through soon.

Indeed you are not!

Lovely colour and I do like the feel of corduroy but never think to buy any!  Quietly envious here now  :D
