Today... One thread per day / Re: Thursday the 6th and the Binmen cometh

It's snowing here.  :S Big fat fluffy flakes. Didn't expect this but I don't think it'll stick around for long...saying that, the roof over the back looks a bit white.

I've got on ever so well with the pageant dress  I'm quite pleased with how well it's gone. I've only got to lop a bit off the ends of the lace tie thingy and it's done.
No visitors yet.

Sending good vibes and best wishes to you @Iminei

It's another freezing cold but bright morning. I'll be putting loops on the back of this floofy pageant dress today once I've figured out how to do it.
I found some good colour matched fabric to use which'll do.

My brother and his wife said they'd visit today. Don't usually see sis-in-law. No idea what time to expect them but it doesn't really matter. I'm not going anywhere.

It's freezing out there. Was surprised to see the tops of the cars and the footpath with a layer of white on them.  :S
Slept really well again but a car went past at 5 o'clock this morning and beeped its horn which disturbed me.  ><

My brother phoned yesterday to say we'd got a visit booked to see Mum this morning...and then he phoned again a little later on to say the care home has closed its doors to visitors.
Don't know how long we'll be blocked from seeing her again. She's lost her sense of time so she hopefully won't miss seeing us as much as we'll feel guilty for not seeing her.

I've got a little bit of work on the rail. A couple of trouser shortens, a couple of restitch/patch/whatever repairs, some trousers to let out the waist, and a frothy little pageant? dress which doesn't fit so I've been told to put some loops down the back and turn it into a lace up corset style back. Hope I've got some matching fabric scraps. I've cleared a lot out recently.

Patchwork & Quilting ... Welcome to the Darkside / Re: Temperature Quilt.

 Mine got finished. The pics are on the forum somewhere.

I loved  :loveit: making mine and was pleased with the end result. I don't know why but I enjoyed collecting the temps every day and jotting them down, then matching the temp to the colour, then seeing how the colours changed in each strip...( I know, I need to get out more  0_0 )

I've been awake for ages but showered and washed my hair before coming downstairs and then I sat here with a crossword puzzle which took up more time than expected.
Prefer to wash my hair in the evening because it goes a bit fluffy and wild. It's much better when I've slept on it but there's so much of it, it takes ages to dry and I hate going to bed with damp hair.

It was raining and nasty when I woke up but it's better now. I can even see a little bit of blue sky.

No Dry Cleaner this morning but I didn't really expect to see him. I saw him on Friday and he would have been closed on Saturday. Unlikely to have had a rush of sewing work in the shop yesterday.

Not sure what I'll do today. The sensible thing would be to pack and/or throw stuff away. Feel like I've lost momentum on any thoughts of moving but I'm certain my ex will be on the phone to the relevant people to hurry them up.
No idea what the neighbours are planning, if anything.

Sorry to hear about your accident @Deafoldbat:hug: Nothing wrong with slobbing around for a few days.

I'm home alone again. Son's gone to his gf's and won't return for a couple of days.

I'm now able to listen to music without Gertie complaining and telling me to shut the doors between the rooms so I don't disturb her, so I'm listening to a bit of Coldplay on youtube.  :thumb:

Did my sewing work this morning but the jacket needing the new zip took much longer than I'd hoped. There were about 90 million rows of stitching to get the old one out.  :S (That might be a slight exaggeration but you know what I mean).
The trousers weren't straightforward either. Shorten to 29 leg. Brand new and the label says they're 30 leg. Measured them and they're only 29 and a quarter.  ><
I can't shorten them just a quarter of an inch without checking with the customer first...and surely he won't want to bother for such a small amount.

Another lovely, bright morning, and I slept well too.  :thumb:

I think I'll get my couple of sewing jobs done today. Replace the zip in a jacket and shorten some trousers. There's no rush for them but I'd rather get them done and out of the way.

Other than that....  ....dunno.

Alterations Advice Please / Re: Advice needed!

Ewww... :S nasty job.

It's a tricky one isn't it? I honestly wouldn't know where to start on that.
The problem is, as you say, there's no extra allowance added onto the 'seam' for you to add the pocket turnings so you'd have to scrimp around with what's there to try to cobble something together.

And he's fussy? If he didn't mind how it turned out it wouldn't be so bad to have a stab at it.
I think I'd decline taking this job on.

It's another beautiful and sunny morning here but it must have piddled down with rain in the night. Everywhere looks very wet.
I didn't sleep all that well and kept waking to get comfortable but I didn't get up until almost half past eight.  :S

Gertie phoned yesterday to wish me a happy new year. It was a short call this time because she was about to sort herself something to eat.
She told me she'd been pinged three times  :scream:
She's going out a lot into a crowded nightclub and mixing with lots of people so it's not really surprising. She did a test though and so far she's negative.  :thumb:

I'm looking forward to seeing how you progress with this @Diane
It's a lovely idea.  :) I think mine would be a couple of robins, three big fat pigeons and seven sparrows.  0_0

I've just had a fox visit the back garden!  It came right up to the back window again.

So, blue sky for once and a healthy, beautiful fox which I thought must have been the one killed on the road outside the other day.

This looks promising for 2022. Hope I haven't peaked too soon.  0_0

Good morning.

I wish you and your loved ones a happy and healthy 2022.  :toast:
Lets see what surprises this year has in store for me.

I've got blue sky here this morning, so that's a good start.  :)

Slept extremely well last night with ear plugs in to muffle all the outside noise, and they worked pretty well.
Still woke at the fireworks explosion at midnight but not enough to disturb me too much.

Another day of idleness for me.

@Esme866  I've done cross stitch, but I'm probably still missing enough patience.  -< I'm sure I have less now than I used to.

These are lovely designs.  :loveit:
