Can anyone recommend good quality DK yard for baby/toddler knits ?
(The Sirdar Snuggly is 55 nylon/45 acrylic and I found it a bit too synthetic... I'm also worried about how well it will wash and wear.)

I have these in the stash that I like:
Sugar Bush yarns - Bliss - it's a blend of wool, silk, and merino goat.
Bernat Softee Solids and Marls - 100% acrylic. I use this when knitting doll clothes and love it.
Loops and Threads Joy - another one I love to knit with
Loops and Thread Kai - have a ball and love the feel of it. Haven't knit it up yet
Paton's Astra - I used it to knit a doll's Hudson Bay sweater and it's okay but I have other yarns I like better.
Patons Classic Wool DK - used in doll clothes and it's fine.
Patons Bamboo Silk - a nice yarn but I'm not sure how well it will hold up.
All of the above are a 3 weight.

Apparently my grandson is only allowed to wear cotton as most things go in his mouth at the moment... :S
I did buy some cotton yarn on cones for machine knitting, but haven't got around to using it yet.
Sorry, I don't know about hand knitting yarn :P

I love Drops Merino extra fine. It’s 100% wool, machine washable at 40C and there are lots of colours. I usually buy it online and it’s not too expensive.

Yes Drops merino extra fine is lovely and really is a good price for wool, I usually buy from https://www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/ if you are looking for acrylic then I have use Marriner wools https://www.marrineryarns.com/.
Hope this helps

I buy it from there for the GSs jumpers and they wash and last really well. Great choice of colours and really good customer service.

Thanks to all for your valuable feedback on this post and I've saved the links to My Favourites ready for the next purchase of wool.
Happy New Year. :D
