A bit of a 'do' / Bridesmaids dresses...one down one to go
« on: September 06, 2018, 14:00:07 PM »
three years ago I found out that my son and his fiance had set the date for their wedding, 6th October 2018.....and I was asked to make the bridesmaids dresses .... I said yes...maybe too eagerly  -< as it was before I knew what she wanted  ! ! ! !....then I got sent a photo ...and that was the brief....oh and she wanted tulle layers ....that had to be just peeping out under the hem of the dress....and she wanted piping to match the lining fabric, around the shape of the heart, the neck and the sleeves..... :S

So I set about doing some research online, about how to do hear shape cutouts on dresses....found a fab tutorial online from this blogger, for a similar thing and went from there.... .

A bit of a 'do' / Re: Tulle skirts for toddlers
« on: August 21, 2018, 11:45:51 AM »
I've just made a tulle underskirt for my six year old and three year old granddaughters bridesmaids dresses (which I also made). I used a very soft tulle and used four widths of fabric for the bottom layer, two and a half widths of fabric for the middle layer and two widths of fabric for the top layer.  my daughter in law didn't want the dresses too sticky out'y, but simply wanted to give the dress some fullness, as the dresses arent floor length, (mid calf) she wanted the tulle visible below the length of the dress too, so I made it longer, than the lining. this image shows the dress before the over skirt has been added...

I didnt realise what the @ was either, however I have received emails notifying me, Id been mentioned in posts and simply clicked on the link, thinking it was automatic reponse as Id posted in that thread...now I know what it really is, it does kinda fill me with a little glow of niceness and happiness to think someone has specifically thought of me...will use this myself too, now I know what it is.... :)

Looks wonderful...very well done to your hubby.....and to you for showing us......my hubby asked me to save the pics for ideas, without any prompting from me.....(this may mean he plans to make me something similar, however I won't hold my breath, as doing anything in a hurry, isn't my hubby strong point..... 0_0 0_0).........

Lovely work, very nicely done.....we also have one of these chairs in my sons bedroom, for computer use (commandeered when the local BT offices closed down and were relocated)....very comfy, but also needs a recover.... 0_0 Was it easy to replace everything and put it back in place on the chair...I've thought of recovering ours but it has a metal base and plastic 'raised' edges on the seat itself, so I'm thinking it may be difficult to do...?

Once again thank you NT, I've spoken to the man again this morning and he's got the machine in his shop now, he's due to give it a service this afternoon, so I'm going to view it tomorrow...he's offered me a one to one, half day training, as he did say if I'm not used to these type of machines I'll need it, just so I can get to grips with it if I decide to have it... and he's told me its four years old..... I'm actually thinking it may be too advanced for me, especially as it's my first proper 'embroidery' machine.... :S -< :| How user friendly are they...?

I can only agree with Fran and Bloobell, having only ever made my own curtains, including swags and tails for rooms with  nine foot high ceilings...your body.... and soul takes a beating... >:) :S :D... I much prefer to make roman blinds these days, hand sewing them takes time, but they're not as heavy... :)

16 million stitches...Okay.... well now I know they're meant to do the job they are built for.... 0_0 and I'm not so inclined to be so doubtful, if the machine he has, has a similar amount on it....I'm going to give him a ring and ask if hes got it in his shop yet, so I can look at it....I'm feeling a lot more positive about it too .
