In the wardrobe / Re: Is it me?
« on: April 12, 2017, 15:37:25 PM »
Several years ago I made a jacket and was advised to get it pressed professionally - at the local dry cleaners. Being a good girl and all the work I had put into it, I did as I was told. When I collected it and looked at it at home I was appalled, the seams hadn't been done properly so I ended up doing it myself, it took ages but looked ok. I wouldn't take it back because I think I would have exploded - professional pressing - no way.

Went to Abakhan Mostyn yesterday but didn't see anything that I wanted - perhaps just as well as I didn't need anything. Coffee was good though!!!!

Embroidery and Embellishment / Re: Alternatives to 505 adhesive?

Even if I use 505 spray I also use bent safety pins. I don't always use spray anyway.

Well I like it and if you look closely at pictures in books not all the "matchings" are perfect, so give yourself a pat on the back. At least you had a go and if it were to go in a quilt, once quilted no-one would notice. :flower: :flower:

What a great idea Sheilago. I've made the soft books from panels for the GC but never thought of making one from scraps. How long did it take to make?

Hope you make it next year Lowena, it's worth a visit and it's amazing how quickly it seems to have come round again although I know August is still a few months away. I bought the tickets at this time last year and here we are again.

I've just bought my tickets for the FOQ, I got an e-mail a couple of weeks ago to say that tickets were going on sale but for Quilter's guild members first. However I checked last night and they were available for the general public so fired off my order. Yeh something to look forward too.

Isn't it great when you discover something like that? I discovered Sew and So's Bungay and now if we go to Suffolk for a holiday a visit is on the 'must do' list.

The Haberdashery / Re: Button boxes
« on: April 07, 2017, 12:38:05 PM »
I've got two - my mum's and one that I started years ago. Funny though I never have what I need and have to go and buy new buttons. Some of the buttons in mum's box do bring back memories of clothes worn years ago.
