If you’re using an overlocker for knits then the usual needles in it will be fine. There’s really no need to spend lots of money on different ones. If you need to stabilise shoulder seams then save the selvedges from very fine linings. Work like a charm and absolutely free. Can’t remember where I picked up that tip.
@So Chic yes the Jean Muir hem is a nice finish. But doesn’t stretch so have to be careful where you use it. I used to have a tutor that said 'one line of machine hemming says lazy. Two lines says designer'.
