Bodgeitandscarper's entry number 1.  (there may be more, or maybe not!)

Just a simple hotwaterbottle cover - I drew around the existing cover, and added seam allowance.  It's got fusible fleece ironed on the back of the cuddle fleece, and then lined with some random dark blue lining fabric.  The bit I'm most proud of is working out how to only sew round all the layers once to join it all.  I then turned it once through the gap in the lining, then turned again through the back opening - and Bob was indeed my uncle!  All the right way round and just the little gap in the lining to sew up.

Technical Help / Re: do I need to lengthen the back bodice?

To my very inexperienced eye, that pic says the armholes aren't deep enough, but of course I may well be wrong.  Do you need to make it so tight?  A little bit looser fit would make wrinkles much less of an issue.

Fun with Fabric / Re: Working with leather

For thick leather you can burnish the edges - I've never done it but have read about it!  Thinner leather I use Edge Foundation - I think you can use this on thicker leather too, and you can then use leather paint over it if you want.

Technical Help / Re: bias wrinkles with photo, finally

Whilst I have no experience of fitting things that tight, I would suggest that you think about how and which way would you smooth/push/pull the fabric to smooth out those wrinkles - that could be where the problem lies.  In this instance it looks like the right hand armhole and shoulder would need raising a tad, or it could be just the side seam is a bit too long - but don't take my word for it, as I say, I have no experience with things like this  :S

@realale thank you, yes I've got one - there was also about £16 postage to add to it, it came from America!  But well worth it.

@realale Take one or two of your presser feet with you to check, they may well fit other machines.

I've not had that email, although I did look at their bundle offer.  Never, ever click a link if you're not sure!

I saw the title and wondered why someone would start a new thread called "new thread" - then I saw it was in "haberdashery" and realised - doh!!

Vintage Machines / Re: Singer 431g - should I???

Do you actually need it?
What a silly question
Need/want?  Want/need??  ::thinks:: ::thinks::

I've decided against it as after a bit more research, I've read that the pins that hold the needle plate on are prone to breaking, and impossible to find any replacements, even Helen Howes has given up trying to source any.  And of course, this machine's pins are partly broken.

Anyone got one or used one?  They are supposed to be on the best old Singers.  I really want to press that "buy" button but...
