Patterns Discussion / New Style Arc Richmond skirt
« on: December 10, 2021, 11:16:57 AM »
A new release from Style Arc today https://www.stylearc.com/shop/sewing-patterns/richmond-utility-skirt/ which actually looks quite nice. I think I'd leave off the drawstring hem though!

Will probably wait until they have a Christmas sale before I buy.

Courses & Classes / Craftsy app
« on: May 10, 2021, 17:01:09 PM »
Has anyone used the Craftsy app recently? Mine kept stopping so I uninstalled it and now I can't seem to find a Craftsy app to download.

Is it just me or can you no longer use an app for Craftsy?

Patterns Discussion / Free Fibremood PDF Pattern 8-9 May only
« on: May 08, 2021, 14:53:19 PM »
Just seen on Instagram that you can get a free fibremood PDF pattern from their webshop with the code SEWISTAMOM

Today and tomorrow only though and it can be for any pattern.

I haven't tried to use it yet so can't say how it works.

I have seen a dress that I'd really like to copy but can't seem to find a pattern. The dress is by Wyse London and I've seen it worn by Sophie Raworth on the BBC news

This is another plain view of the same style  -2nd picture brown dress

This from M & S is similar apart from the neckline   - 3rd picture green dress. I have tried it for style but don't like the shade of green.

The skirt is similar to Simplicity 8875 which I have and have seen made up.

Can anyone help please?

In the wardrobe / Skirt Dilemma - Which One Do I Make?
« on: November 25, 2020, 15:23:13 PM »
I'm planning on making a Style Arc Canterbury skirt with some animal print viscose twill but am unsure so wonder what anyone's thoughts would be.

Main worry is altering the length as I am only 5'1". I thought of removing seam allowance on skirt top and the main piece but I think I need 1-2" off the length so do I just take it from the hem or slit the skirt piece somewhere in the middle?

Also the side zip goes up through waistband which I've not done before, but as I'm low waisted would really prefer to put waistband on last so should I put zip in to finish at waist and put a hook and eye on the overlapping waist band?

My other thought was to make the Fibremood Hettie with only one tier? I've made a toile of both skirt tops for size as I've not made a skirt in at least a decade!

My last thought was is the 'droopy hem' style a bit out of date now? I was thinking of eliminating the 'droop' from the back.

https://www.stylearc.com/shop-category/pdf-sewing-patterns/pdf-cardigan-top-patterns/ and https://www.stylearc.com/shop-category/pdf-sewing-patterns/pdf-blouse-shirt-patterns/  should take to the right sections.
