There's one where I live, have seen notices in the free local magazine. Think the next one is quite soon.

Hi @Gittje and a welcome from me too! You live in a lovely place although it's a long time since I was in Bruges. Are there any nice fabric shops? There is a thread somewhere that we post any we come across on our travels so maybe you could let us know.

Tech Know How / Re: No emails when "mentioned"
« on: February 10, 2020, 16:22:54 PM »
So why would I now not get the emails when I was doing before the 5th?  Nothing has changed at my end, it must be to do with the attempted change of the forum.

Not necessarily as over the past year, at least, mine have been intermittent to say the least, most often I don't get any. I'd say it's your ISP, for whatever reason. Mine is most choosy!

Mine are hit and miss and have always been that way, I blame my ISP (BT). All of a sudden they appear for a day or so then nothing. I sometimes forget to look at the top of the forum as well!

Similar reply emails from another forum which I'd had for years suddenly stopped and were not in 'spam' so I had to change that contact to my other email and they came to the 2nd one okay.

Helen M’s Jungle January entry.

Simple Sew Cocoon dress which came with a sewing magazine.

The fabric is a ponte look but is more a fine knit matelasse with a plain backing. It’s been in my stash since 2015 when I bought it on holiday in Texas from the now defunct Hancock's.

A fairly easy make, although I don’t know why there is a front centre seam. It is on the grain and just made pattern matching a bit of a devil! I found a the 5/8 seam allowance a bit annoying and it seemed huge having sewn with 3/8 and 1/4 in most of what I’ve sewn of late.

I raised the pocket height 1” as I’m only 5’1”. The pattern said to use bias binding for sleeve turnings, I just turned under and hand sewed to finish, the same with the hem.

« on: February 03, 2020, 12:39:25 PM »
Thanks for this @Greybird ! Have just looked at the eBay site and some interesting pieces. I'll make a not of the other shop too as it may be worth a trip when the weather gets a bit warmer!

Your fabric looks lovely is it for a special occasion?

Fun with Fabric / Re: Girl Charlee has ceased trading!

I always thought there UK arm a strange set up.

Around the time the UK version appeared I'd been looking at their US site from a blog link for a particular fabric. All of a sudden you were no longer able to access the US site (they had some patterns that I was interested in as well) and were taken to the very much watered down UK site. I actually phoned them and complained that surely it wasn't right that they should take away my choice of even viewing the US site. The guy (they were apparently friends of the US people) said they didn't want UK people to use the US site.......

As you will have guessed I have never bought from them.
