@Aunty Stitches

I'll PM it to you along with my reason for not wanting to post it in an open forum where colleagues from my day job could accidentally find it and crucify me.

@Aunty Stitches

Welcome.

Gave you a follow on Instagram too. I'm the one with the album full of horribly out of focus discoloured photos.

Love the greyscale gradient in the first photo.

@annieeg

That is a beautiful looking stitch. It I've absolutely no idea what I'd use it for. I've no ability or will to make knickers, swimwear or dance wear which is about all I can see they're used for. Still tempting though.

Stop it!

:)

Hi, I'm new... / Re: Newbie

Welcome to the new and wonderful world of sewing - prepare to become addicted. Do be aware we are all enablers - so if ever you ask " should I buy......" the answer is invariably "yes'  except from Lowena who is our voice of reason!

@CraftyIrish

I'd echo that. I was only here a week or two and ended up with two additional machines!

Oh, and welcome :)

I'm not getting back into how many irons and ironing boards I have at this point but I store my stash in three big plastic lock lid containers.

:)

@Gernella

The £225 the first one went for; would you say that's a realistic price to expect to pay?

24
@TartanPaint I would agree with you about a draw, but I'm trying to be fair to the people who missed out earlier because they weren't poised to pounce the moment the post went up.  I wasn't expecting the reaction I got - I thought maybe a few would go eventually - but they were in like Flynn... (and are again!)

Well, for what it's worth, that blue and white one is exquisite. I'd buy it off you in a second but I also appreciate your willingness to ensure fairness. Someone is going to get away with a prize that's for sure.

You don't know what you're missing.  :loveit:

@UttaRetch @wrenkins

Well I've got a choice of hand cranked which is manual labour so no. The other one needs work so no again. No offence to @BlueCat they are beautiful machines but I've been playing with the Brother CS8080 i got from @annieeg What a lovely wee bit of kit. I can do seams without pins or clips. Just match stuff up and feed it into what sounds like a baby turbine. That's not even getting started about all the lovely buttony clicky automated goodness.

One thing, though, are old machines fast?

@wrenkins

Thanks for the heads-up. That second one is the one I really wanted too.

I can't be arsed with draws and the like. I've never been into anything like that. Always makes me feel like a dog on an obedience course with the promise of a treat at the end. So, one less person to spread the disappointment around with.

Best of luck to everyone who enters, though; those are some quality quilts.

@Deafoldbat Beautiful work on the quilts. Someone is going to be very pleased.

:)

@UttaRetch

Not for me. I'll stick with my computerised goodness.

@Lemz79

Sorry it's taken so long to say hi but welcome from a grumpy male in Scotland. You'll like it here. They have biscuits!

(Not that I've ever been offered any!)

@Syrinx @wrenkins

How does @Iminei do the tutorials? We could organise something like that. I'd happily share photos of my progress, disasters, bonfires.
