It's blowing hard through here - been awake since 6 and done nothing. The online Guardian has an article about the new at home dressing - fancy dresses! I don't like the central heating high enough to wear such things.......
I just had a look over at Stitchers Guild, and they are remarking on the quiet there also...

No @CraftyIrish it's not always this quiet but there are times near Christmas and other holidays when many are busy with other things although there can be a flurry shortly afterwards to get back to sewing as a break from the seasonal madness. ;) Covid may have given us lots of mask sewing opportunities but the chat about those is inevitably a bit more limited in range.
For us in the dancewear fraternity there's not much going on with no competitions or couple's dancing taking place. Just doesn't make sense to buy new dresses for juveniles and have them grow out of them before the next comp - especially possible at that age. I'm doing that and have posted a few times in the last week but I'm not doing as much sewing research without specific project on the horizon just yet and the research often prompts as many if not more questions than when the sewing starts in earnest.

I was referencing dance wear particularly. We've got a whole new batch of newbies in our school this year (odd ) so there'll be stuff in the offing soon enough I expect.

In February of last year I caught the mystery flu that knocked everyone down for months. Got over it about middle of November, and then a second round December and didn't get over that until June. Then I caught "covid" in March (no one is sure if I did or not, but I had antibodies in May).
And in May my gallbladder went nuclear. Almost exploded in August, had surgery. I JUST not got released from the doctor and still not completely healed (they nicked my liver, so that was fun)...and today I have a bloody cold.
So...I've been seriously ill for the better part of a year and a half, trips in and out of hospital, bronchitis, pneumonia, broken bones...the works and several things I haven't mentioned. Plus we've been remodeling the house when we can, and so my time is sick, not sick but working on the house, sick, tired, waiting on stuff. Terrible cycle I tell you.
Sewing has been an activity I have not felt like doing. Honestly, I haven't felt like doing much, and anything I do makes me exhausted so I am just sleeping lots and lots. I barely keep up with being alive most days :faints: :laughing: :laughing:

Talking of dance. What sort of tulle do you use for making those skirts that the waistband is ribbon that ties together (so it's just a long strip of tulle, the tie makes it skirt shaped) I see them on dancers a lot and might make one for a cousin but no idea where to start. Liven the dance wear forum up a bit

Well there is hope that I might get to make something this year - the youth dance group that I volunteer for is doing outdoor site specific dance performances. They just need the sites.

@Syrinx you can buy strips of tulle on a roll or if you can be bothered just cut up normal fine tulle using a roller cutter. Lots of videos on the google-ator.

I think you're probably talking about the very light and floaty ones beloved by ballet dancers so I'd suggest Dreamweave which is a lovely fine and floaty net but deceptively tough. I'd recommend Trim-it in Blackpool, it's always a bit cheaper there but they also have it in a huge selection of colours. They have an online shop too. The owner is a bit...one-way, he does things the way he always has but the stock is good quality and more competitively priced than most high quality dance specialists.

@Marniesews youre so right about Steven at trim it. I went to the shop a couple of years ago looking to spend several hundreds pounds on fabric but he still couldn’t really be bothered. We ended up being there about 2 hours (hubby not pleased
