Shirt dress for my youngest daughter Willow aged 8

Pattern used - New Look Tweenies shirt dress 6487

The pineapple print cotton fabric was brought in Paris last year when we stumbled across the Paris equivalent of Goldhawk Road.

It was a pretty straight forward make, I've done a few shirt dresses before so nothing new to me.  But this pattern did have a different way of doing the collar. Previously I have made the collar up then attached it to the neck edge but this way attached the collar band to the neck first then attached the collar, I think I preferred it as it meant the collar band was the right length for the neck edge which I've had issues in the past with due to my slightly off cutting and sewing!!

The customer was delighted with it  :D  (PS I did press it but she was wearing it for a good hour before I got round to taking photos)

Well I have a 30th Birthday at the end of April and a jumpsuit pattern I've been itching to make - can I do it in time?!  >:)

I've just got the hem of the sleeves and the bottom to do. Oh and a load of buttons and buttonholes  :S I wonder if my youngest would like a zip up shirt dress instead?!

Oh no @Francesca  :'( I got the email saying extra tickets now on sale but it took most of the day to be able to get on as the website kept crashing, I brought mine later on that day and there were still plenty then.

My youngest was given a small (20x20cm) bamboo silk snuggly thing when she was born. She LOVED it, took it everywhere, we called it the manky blankie, she caleed it 'frat'.  We had to by a spare, and another spare. After the third one was lost I decided enough was enough at £20 a pop but I can see why she was so attached to it as it was (when new!) so lovely and soft.

Hey I might actually finish in time to enter this contest!  I am making a shirt dress for my 8 year old out of some pineapple print fabric that she chose in Paris last year. have cut out and stitched together the main body pieces so just (!!) collar and sleeves. Oh and buttons and button holes  - or maybe I'll just use poppers >:)  Photos to follow.

@DementedFairy that’s very kind thank you. I’ll stick a few quid in a charidee box instead.

Is there an upper age limit? I'm just about to start on a pineapple print shirt dress for my 8 year old - this might be the incentive to get me going!! But I also have an 11 year old too who will probably want something (most likely another shirt dress)

:S
I think I need to get hod of Fancy Silks and if they have it in stock dash to it after work tomorrow, or I won't have time to get it done at all...poop
Antone want the existing one?

Yes! I'd wear that dress for a non dress up day it's lovely! How much do you want for it?

They've still got a website too https://thefoldline.com/ I really like the site for searching for patterns - can spend hours trawling through it!
