@Gernella Thank you for that, I am very tempted, having seen the ones you made! Slight problem of the queue ahead of it though...

Machine Accessories / Re: Rolled Hem foot

It does depend to some extent on how curved the hem is for me, I have the 2mm and 4mm feet.
I have bought a set of three wide rolled hem feet, 1/2",3/4" and 1". Won't fit all my machines but worth changing when I need long runs.

Did you  print the pattern as multi-size? Was it easy to select the lines you wanted? Yours looks so good I'm almost tempted to buy the pattern.

Just been on the website and they say they have had so many requests they can't handle any more!

I've done it again - clicked submit before I put in the second vote.  But I'm not the only one!  By my count 14 voters  means 28 votes and there are only 22, so 6 of us did the same. Well done to everyone who managed to finish before the end.

Can you imagine the wardrobe she is going to expect when she is a  teenager?

There's no point in sewing if it only makes you stressed.  I always find a deadline for myself messes up my head.  Chill out and come back to it when you feel better.

Doh! It was in WildAtlanticWay's reply. She was the one  short on fabric, sorry.  Concentrate girl!

Without cutting, but you need to taper to the cuff yourself -  https://www.google.co.uk/search?ei=091-XJKHFMXggwfYiqbQDA&q=make+sleeves+pattern+bigger&oq=make+sleeves+pattern+bigger&gs_l=psy-ab.12...19090.22936..2555.0.0..0.1255...872.7j3......0
This one  shows the pattern adjustment by cutting  - https://blog.cashmerette.com/2016/10/tutorial-how-to-make-sleeves-larger.html
You will notice that cutting and overlapping the pattern will shorten the outside of the sleeve a little.  If it will make it tight when you bend your elbow, add a little length to compensate

@snoozi soozi , I only asked because you said you might be short of material for the yoke. I have sometimes used different fabric for an invisible part like the inner yoke or cuff facings.
You mentioned making the larger sleeve fit into the armhole.  If you cut the 16 sleeve, you need to cut the 16 armhole even if you are using a 14 bodice.  There are ways of making a sleeve wider without altering the length of the sleeve cap. I'll see if I can find a tutorial. It involves cutting across the sleeve pattern at armhole level, slashing the  pattern from cuff seam line to seamline at the top and spreading the two sides wide enough for your arm. The sleeve head will overlap the lower part a little.

Is the yoke double? Would you have enough to make the top layer of yoke in the proper fabric but do the lining side in something else?  (perhaps from a scrap shirt or something? You could make a feature of doing the inside of the neck band, if it is on a band, in the different material)

Thanks Jessie, but really I don't understand them. It's their loss.  When they ran out of fabric, they could have contacted me and I would have understood and been patient for a while longer. They didn't even have to use a stamp because they had my email address.  As it is, they have lost a subscriber (and how many others?) and the free advertising on here if I had said how delighted I was, instead they have negative publicity.
Since they seem to be tied in with Simplicity, I am wondering if it is the same team as is behind Sew Direct.  Very pleasant people on the phone though, I am sorry for them.

Another phone call last Thursday, the latest girl said she would chase it up and phone me back, "it won't be today, could be tomorrow or early next week".  Well, lunchtime today, no phone call but the post lady brought me a parcel.  Coincidence or what? Perhaps it was the cold businesslike way I asked who to complain to, but the girl definitely sorted it.
It is almost 3 months to the day since I subscribed. It is a dark warm fabric, originally supposed to be a washable wool but not sure what this is, might just be that. (the pattern that goes with it is, strangely, the one from the original offer)
Fabric looks to be a decent quality but the customer service has been appalling. Apologies to you all for mentioning it in the first place, hope no-one got the run around.

Overlockers & Coverstitchers / Re: New Overlocker Best Thread
« on: March 04, 2019, 11:22:01 AM »
To some extent, this depends on what you are using it for.  To finish the edges of wovens, a fine thread , 180 or less does not give bulk. On a heavy material, I use up whatever I have to hand. If you are doing lingerie or sportswear, there are looser threads that bulk out and give better coverage of the seam. Jaycotts and Barnyarns are both good for threads but it depends what you mean by 'best'. Are you looking for large cones or smaller ones for smaller projects? Neutral colours that blend with a lot of things are useful. If you want to do decorative finishes, the manual should give some ideas of types.
